Re: Got a new pistol today!

I'm all about the S&W M&P .40 All of you that like shooting should go try to shoot one. Very accurate and feels very comfortable in the hand.

As for protection to those who are disagreeing, I would much rather have a gun and have a chance at self defense then to not have a gun and be a helpless fool. I will be a proud gun owner for life and living in Texas will help the "for life" aspect of that comment. I don't know about other states but if someone breaks into my house, good game...

Re: Got a new pistol today!

In my whole life I have.

Only heard of one person getting stabbed.
Only thing I've ever had stolen was a bike on my front lawn.
    Never been hustled.
Never had a gun pointed at me.

No reason for me to even consider touching a gun. I have three dogs, that's my protection lol.

Wow. i might have to take my happy ass up to canada, forget this place lol not tryna one up u or anything but heres my 20 yrs:

i cant tell u how many stabbings i have heard of (last year i saw 2 girls at the mall stabbing each other with pens over some guy just walked away shakin his head, crazy broads lol) and i actually stabbed a guy while i was getting jumped and robbed for my lunch money when i was only 7.
i've been through more than 15 bikes all of which never lasted longer than a year except 2 of them, along with countless other things ive had stolen which turned me into a klepto for a while.
been hustled a time or 2 but im smart enough to see it coming now.
had 2 handguns and a shotgun pointed at me.

i know plenty of ppl whos had much worse. im gettin out of here the first chance i get.

In Canada it's the same way. I have never met one Canadian (who wasn't a criminal) with even the slightest desire to own a handgun. It's completely different. To be 100% honest I thought that the Americans with a desire to own a hand gun were very few and far in between.

I know that everyone keeps saying that people kill people not guns but unfortunetly I still am yet to be convinced.

When your walking through walmart and someone cuts infront of you in line you get a little bit aggrivated. In Canada sometimes an arguement can happen. (it's happened to me) sometimes aggresion can take over and you just wanna punch him in the face. Now instead, you pull that "protection" out and pop a cap in his ass.

I don't know the numbers but I'm sure a lot more people are killed in the states by hand guns then anywhere that handguns are out lawed?

But just restating my original idea. The way we were raised is handguns are bad. Handguns kill people. Only bad guys have guns. You touch a gun and someone finds out you go to jail.

I know it will sound bad to some but I am perfectly 100% happy with that. I'm happy to live somewhere that I know if I piss someone off I won't get shot. I'm happy to know I can work at a gas station and not have to worry about getting robbd with a handgun and getting shot. I'm happy to know some kid isn't going to take his dads, uncles, grandfathers gun to school and shoot my future kids. I would be very happy if there was allowed 0 hand guns in Canada allowed and only hunting rifles with very strict laws regarding them.

    Don't flame, just my opinion.

Just saying, the picture where the person posted there "protection". If you did that in the hunters course you would have been redoing the test. If your finger goes anywhere near the trigger without the intent to shoot the gun you fail.
    a. i completely checked the gun to be "safe" (empty) myself before taking the picture and also my finger is actually no where near touching the trigger... my finger is on the composite.... very observant of you... ohhh and there is also no clip in the handgun....

Some people like to eat frogs' legs. Chuck Norris likes to eat lizard legs. Hence, snakes.

Arnt you going to get arrested if you actually shoot the attacker?

WHy would you presume that you are going to shoot to kill? Why can't I just shoot them in the leg or something to render them no longer a threat to my life or the lives of my family? Arrogance is the only word that comes to mind with this one.

How do you know if its fun or not? Have you tried it? Or are you one of those people who dismiss something based purely on some misconception of .... Danger in this case?

And in most states there is a law called the castle law in which if you feel that you or your family are in immediate danger from an intruder in your home you can legally shoot them. Now the complete legality of it can still be left up to a jury. I mean if someone kicks in your door and sees you and then turns to run off and you still shoot them in the back then it is the same as murder. THat of course is the worst summary of a law that I could have come up with but you get the idea.

move to new york and watch how fast your response changes. I will own at least one fire arm till the day i die. Its my right as an American and was raised around shooting\hunting. I learned to shoot from my father who did twenty plus years as a homicide\narcotics detective in the city of new york. I was brought up practicing gun safety and owning a firearm is nothing to joke about. I dont buy firearms for the so called "Cool Factor" I buy them because i enjoying shooting them with buddies of mine who have been on the force for a while now as well as spending time with my pops at the range. Ive had people attempt to rob me,steal my motorcycles, etc. I dont sleep on anyone. All your dreams can happen here or you can get killed at a stop light. That glock .45 will turn the hardest to the softest. No one will ever change my mind on owning a firearm. Home invasions are quite common over here and everyday theres another shooting which has left someone dead. Every year home invasions are more and more common. I think its time to move

If your life is truly being threatened, you shoot for center of mass, because the only way to be absolutely sure that an attacker is incapacitated is to kill them. In that stress situation, you're going to adrenaline dump, and that can limit your skill to less than what it would normally be, so you don't want to be aiming for a small/thin target. Also, unless you hit the bone in the leg (an even smaller target), you can't be sure they won't be able to keep coming at you.

Basically, if you're shooting to wound in a situation like that, you're exercising too little concern for your own safety and too much concern for your attacker's life, and it could easily get you hurt or killed.
