In Canada it's the same way. I have never met one Canadian (who wasn't a criminal) with even the slightest desire to own a handgun. It's completely different. To be 100% honest I thought that the Americans with a desire to own a hand gun were very few and far in between.

I know that everyone keeps saying that people kill people not guns but unfortunetly I still am yet to be convinced.

When your walking through walmart and someone cuts infront of you in line you get a little bit aggrivated. In Canada sometimes an arguement can happen. (it's happened to me) sometimes aggresion can take over and you just wanna punch him in the face. Now instead, you pull that "protection" out and pop a cap in his ass.

I don't know the numbers but I'm sure a lot more people are killed in the states by hand guns then anywhere that handguns are out lawed?

But just restating my original idea. The way we were raised is handguns are bad. Handguns kill people. Only bad guys have guns. You touch a gun and someone finds out you go to jail.

I know it will sound bad to some but I am perfectly 100% happy with that. I'm happy to live somewhere that I know if I piss someone off I won't get shot. I'm happy to know I can work at a gas station and not have to worry about getting robbd with a handgun and getting shot. I'm happy to know some kid isn't going to take his dads, uncles, grandfathers gun to school and shoot my future kids. I would be very happy if there was allowed 0 hand guns in Canada allowed and only hunting rifles with very strict laws regarding them.

    Don't flame, just my opinion.

Just saying, the picture where the person posted there "protection". If you did that in the hunters course you would have been redoing the test. If your finger goes anywhere near the trigger without the intent to shoot the gun you fail.

Not going to flame you, BUT

how often do guns go shooting people...
    never...ever....happened.

people whom use guns irresponsibly, are the reason for this nonsense.
Im 19 years old, grew up with guns in the household, and im sorry, ive never pulled a gun on anyone, gotten into my father's guns, or kill/shot at ANYONE.
Im a very responsible person, and know the difference between right and wrong.
if someone decides to be irresponsible, they are punished. A gun is just a piece to the puzzle, it could be anything used to kill...
I dont even own a handgun... and I cannot legally own one till im 21 years of age, but i do plan on it. I enjoy shooting...

If guns are outlawed, so should knives, bows, baseball bats, rifles, and any other weapon that could possibly harm/kill another person.

Sorry for Hijacking your thread man...
I know you just wanted to show off your new piece. haha

Look, buddy, there will ALWAYS be a black market for guns! Criminals are willing to do things illegal (like acquiring an illegal gun) to do MORE illegal stuff (i.e. breaking in), while we are not. Therefore, there are two options: 1) Criminal has gun, I don't. 2) Criminal has gun, I DO. I'd prefer option 2, thank you very much!

EDIT: Sorry, Matt! This thread has been officially hijacked. Nice pickup.

You are very very very trustworthy. I don't know about you but think of it how I think about it.

How many bad drivers are there on the road? Each and every one of those people has a drivers licence that was handed to them by the state. Now if the same statistics are handed over to gun owners, don't you think the same amount of irresponsible people will own guns?

I would be pooping myself if the crazy guy beside me in line at pizza pizza had a gun on him.

And just a tid bit of information. I have never been to the US just for this reason. It scares the hell outta me that Joe blow can have a handgun hidden under his shirt. I don't blame you guys for wanting guns. It's either everyone can have a gun or nobody can have a gun. Then it's a matter of who can shot the other guy first the best.

Ahhh you guys like it your way, we like it our way. Who's to say who's right ?

Now come on, how is that a logical leap? Knives are legal in Canada aren't they? But you don't see people getting stabbed over arguments all the time do you? Not trying to say you should love guns, just that this argument against them is unfounded. However I fully support your right to not want a gun

Re: Got a new pistol today!

for everyone who is anti-gun on this thread: what are u gonna do if someone kicks ur door, tells ur wife and kids to get on the ground unless u wanna die, and tells u to give him all your stuff?
cops take time to show up. the robber has enough time to take all ur stuff, kill ur family and even erase some evidence by the time they get to ur house.
pull out a knife and ur only evenly matched. unless that guy has a gun and u dont.
pull out a gun and all u gotta do is pay for a new door and not half ur possessions. when ur life is in danger, u dont need to be thinkin about what u should do, u wanna just whip out ur 9 and get it dealt with.
dont give me all that probability 'theres a chance someone can get randomly shot" crap, u have a higher chance of getting struck by lightning while going to get a lottery ticket than actually winning it but most of u still play, right? so give us a good relevant answer.

Haha i understand where your coming from..
but actually, handgun owners have to have a background check, among other things before having one.
Felons cannot own a handgun, or anyone with a criminal background of which involves harming another person.

Just because we can own guns, and many do...
    very few actually carry them...

not only is getting your concealed weapons permit another background check, but without it, you cant go walking around legally with a gun tucked away. You can however legally walk around with a rifle/shotgun (anything with a barrel exceeding 18.5 inches) slung on your back, down the street, or in a park. You can also have a handgun holstered (not concealed) and legally walk around as-well. (as long as your following all laws)

Not too many do that though...
i have yet to see anyone do it in my lifetime unless it is a officer, or we are going shooting.

Thats state based for open carry. And you cant i guarantee carry a rifle or shottie around on your back in open carry unless hunting.

Actually... Knives are illegal too hehe.

And Ryu. Where I live (Ontario) that stuff doesn't really happen. Almost never. And I have insurance. Anything that a robber takes I get the money back for and then I get that same thing, only newer. And people here don't have guns. So I don't have to worry, I have two labs and an American bulldog who doesn't like loud noises or strangers making me say "ow".

I feel safe no matter where I go. To be honest over the last five years I think the only time I didn't feel safe was when I pulled out my walletto give a homeless person in Toronto a $5 and a twenty fell out.

Sure crime happens here but barely ever.

well thats good, i wish it was more like that here in atlanta (i live on the outskirts in the suburbs and stuff happens here too but ill use atl as a whole) where this happens multiple times daily, enough to not even make news out of anymore. even if u dont have a gun here u wanna tell ppl u do lol. my house got robbed 3x in the past 3yrs and i thank god noone was home for any of them. now im gettin a rifle, some throwing knives, and this 500,000 volt stun rod i found in an asian market for $60 (all of which i hope i never have to use) and some cameras. the world i live in isnt so pretty, i can barely look out my damn window without checkin for illegal mexican gangbangers and broke methheads around the house even tho theres 4 cops that are paid to live in this neighborhood. i even heard on local news about a month ago that u should just leave your car unlocked and take everything out so u dont have to pay for new windows every week. it used to be quiet around here but now its turning into a hellhole. u probably dont have to worry about katrina victims from new orleans that dont even have 'law' in their vocabulary living next door either. its alot better than LA here but there are ppl actually getting killed over their shirt color now, its ridiculous. sorry if it sounds like im attacking u cause im not. i understand why u dont need a gun but theres more ppl than not that live in neighborhoods that arent as perfect and owning a gun in places like atlanta (12th most dangerous city in the US) is more than just a right.
