Re: Got a new pistol today!
My BF and I plan on getting a gun in the future. We had our door slammed open once (and it's a heavy door) and all we have to protect ourselves is a heavy cane. Our friends house was robbed, and they had nothing to protect themselves (But, they weren't home. Robbers staked out their house for a couple days) They ended up getting an alarm system and a doberman. They want a gun, but I highly doubt they'll ever get one.
I like guns, they're neat. That's not why I want one though. If someone were to bust down my door again and they had a gun, I would prefer to have the same protection rather than a stupid cane.
Very nice pistol Matt

I dont mind at all, I paid $400 for it. That was the best price I've seen for them, seems like the average is around 500. It's a 9mm, forgot to mention that. Thanks everybody for the compliments!

YES!!! I HATE football and I totally agree that the drunk english fans are like children.
So if someone attacks you with a knife and you take your gun out, then what? You just shoot them in the face?
I get guns for the purpose of hunting, that one is pretty obv, but I fail to see how its fun or protection. Arnt you going to get arrested if you actually shoot the attacker?

Hi,
Here? yes, without a shadow of doubt.
There? It depends on a lot of factors - most of which vary by state as well.

If youve never shot one, then you wouldnt understand the fun part. So dont knock it if you aint tried it. If you have tried it, and didnt fin it fun, then different strokes for different folks i suppose.
I think its pretty obvious how they work for protection. Wont even try to explain that one.
No, if you shoot an attacker, and it is clearly self-defense, you will not get arrested. As long as you are carrying the gun legally.
Its a difference in culture, which is something that cannot be properly explained or argued, so its probably best just to agree to disagree.
EDIT: you wouldnt get arrested in most parts of the USA anyhow.

Re: Got a new pistol today!
there is also the high possiblity that if they have a knife they will just flee the area so you can call the cops... you dont even have to fire it... there was a poll... the most distinct chilling sound in the world... the chambering of a shotgun shell... even the sound of that will make an intruder leave your home instantly....

Is this all if you shoot them and they die?

if you can articulate in a proper manner as to why you had to use self defense to shoot and kill the attacker, NO you do not get punished... it is our right to defend our family and ourselves with any means necessary.

Re: Got a new pistol today!
So doesn't it then become easy to get around that? Surely it cant be to hard to set something like that up.

Re: Got a new pistol today!
Huh?
Thats why policemen are naturally suspicious people with a skill set designed to detect deception and the reasoning skills to ferret out the truth.
If people could be trusted not to commit crimes we would save a fortune both sides of the atlantic.
