Yes, ventilation is essential with all the rodents-they all smell (even pygmy mice). I use Zeolite (Horse Stall Freshener) in the warmer months to cancel out some of the ammonia, but, it is no substitute. I keep my snake collection on the down-low and my neighbors have no idea why all the vultures in the area are constantly hanging out in my backyard.
