I love anything by Jodi Picoult, and I've recently discovered Lisa Scottoline, and her books are fantastic.
For light romance reading, I'm really enjoying Robyn Carr's Virgin River series.
My favorite book EVER is The Promise, by Donna Boyd (it's a werewolf story).
The Ten Little Bloodhound series by Virginia Lanier are also very good (it's an older series).
I also like James Patterson, Jonathan Kellerman, Faye Kellerman (his wife), Harlan Coben, Dean Koontz, Robin Cook to name a few.
