Mine doesn't compare at all to IEDs or self-impalements, but I'll mention it anyway.

The worst I've had was when I messed up the rotator cuff in my left shoulder. I was playing racquetball, running full speed toward the wall to try to get to the ball in time to return it. I misjudged the distance to the wall, couldn't stop in time, and smashed my shoulder into it with the full force of 180 pounds of me behind it. There was zero perceived time between smacking into the wall and just being on the floor in pain.

It took probably 2 months to heal/regain full range of motion, and another few months after that before I really started to trust that arm again. To anyone who experiences something similar in the future, I offer this piece of advice: when the doctor asks if you can handle the pain, for the love of all that's good and sweet in the world, don't say yes. I was told to take 3 Advil every 4-6 hours and tough it out (no sling), which sucked a lot. I tried not to move my left arm at all, but of course that's very difficult to do. Some sort of "real" pain killers would have made a big difference.

You never really understand how much you use your non-dominant hand/arm until you can't.

Nothing too bad. Wrecked my dirtbike on gravel road. Skidded out a few feet on my hands and left elbow. Road rash on hands wasn't too bad but my elbow was ground meat that wouldnt stop bleeding and had to get 12 pieces of pea gravel picked out and stitches at the ER.
My b*tchy quarter horse mare kicked me in the chest once, knocked the breath out of me and gave me a softball size bruise. Glad I took it to the meaty area and not my sternum. Ow.

Yes, but like I said before, mine was a parking lot fender bender compaired to what the guys on the amputee and burn wards in Walter Reed are dealing with, so when asked, I always say I received one, not earned one.

From the way you were talking about it i kinda got that vibe, which is why i chose it to word it the way i did. LOL at EMM's

I still have some scaring after some minor plastic surgery and a boat load of cortisone shots to break down scar tissue and resolve some keloids that occurred due to improper healing. To this day I still lose feeling in my left arm from time to time and can no longer sleep on my left side.

I haven't been on a bike since, but when I do ride again I'll be sure to wear some protection... No more t-shirt and shorts.
Nasty stuff. Yea whenever i see someone riding in just shorts and a tshirt i sorta cringe a little lol.

oh the stupid things I done over my 35 years on this planet lol, I put a nail though my shoe and foot ( coming out the top of the show at firehouse ( pulled it out andwent about my day after some super glue and a good scrubbing lol.( should of seen the guys freaking out ) I pulled the muscle s in my back so much they probably look like some freaky stuff on a xray/mri , I round the shoulder up ( right side) when I had abreak cable snap and lock up front wheel of the bicycle ( only to freshly laid pavement ) walked back home carring a bike with 1 arm working 2 miles at the age of 12. cutting a tree down with a buddy and it twist and fell on me ( 20 ft in the air and have 20 + feet of large pine beat you the entire time it fell does not tickle )

but the one that tok the cake was in school
the art club was painting the school dugouts wit h the school logo , well we were driving all the paint and stuff ( 8 people ) back with the door open in the mini van someone cuts across infront of us running the stop sign. well my head got caught betwen the sliding door and the van frame, with such force they though I was dead, but my hard head proved to be denser than the nater bolt area( I bent the caught/bolt piece to the point they never did line up right to close) a week with blinding head aches and a pop knot the size of a salt shaker was the reason we all joked that my mind does not go to the top floor lol ( that and being born between floors at the hospital lol.)

I've got nothing on you guys! Haha, but my worst injury was running around a property where we were building a log cabin a while ago (was maybe 7- 8 years old?). Ended up tripping on something and fell with my throat square on one of the marking stakes. Since it was the square end I didn't impale myself, but makes for a nifty scar and reminder to look where you're stepping
