    A diet is what you sustain on. If I ate twinkies and drank coke for all my meals, then I would be on a diet of coke and twinkies.

    TO diet, is the whole food plan, counting calories, cutting carb stuff that people do to lose weight.

    Big difference between the noun and the verb, just wanted to make that clear.
