the great sea iguanas and land iguanas of the galapagos islands never shed in one piece, they use it as armor. they carry "stuck shed" with dignity and for a purpose. for poops sake, the marine species share a hunting (grazing) ground with sharks. they graze where sharks hunt, and for that you really dont want to look edible.
