im not anti-religion..... but when people want to tell me what to do based on religious thinking, i see where it is coming from, and hit back.

its just a hint, when facing a religious conondrum of logic: outflank it. it works.

do you hate something that is not true? why should you? but when something that is not true starts to get a real pain, how do you tackle it? pointing out that it is not true using the most effective strategies that are available may be a start.

its fun how pointing out that a certain religion is most certainly not true gets equated to "bashing".
The Big Bang almost certainly (beyond reasonable doubt) happened 13.7 billion years ago. If you disagree, send me a PM.
Evolution is a fact, evolutionary theory explains why it happens and provides four different lines of evidence that coalesce to show that evolution is a fact. If you disagree, send me a PM.
One third of the global economy relies on technology that is based on quantum mechanics, especially quantum electrodynamics (electron-photon or electron-electron interactions). If you disagree, send me a PM.
Time Dilation is real, it is so real that all clocks if they are precise enough can measure it, and GPS could not possibly work without it.
If you disagree, send me a PM.

The 4 philosophically most important aspects of modern science are: Evolutionary theory, Cosmology, Quantum mechanics, and Einsteins theory of general relativity. Understand these to get a grip of reality.

It's like your own little religion of hating on religion... even go as far as to have a quote of your own on the subject in your signature trying to bait people into messaging you. It's just such bad taste. How about some peace, love, and acceptance from all sides of the subject? That's what it's about to me anyways.
few people contacted me about my signature, and the majority of these few wanted to know more about a specific scientific topic.

so, i dont know, i think the bait does not work. truly religious people would never respond.

by the way, look what i initially responded to. i responded to hatred/fear of snakes based on genesis. it is rational to side-step it and demolish other parts of the bible until the person believing that snakes are evil based on genesis has some doubts. how else can you tackle fear of snakes based on genesis effectively? if the bible would be true, would my comments be controversial, would they make any sense at all?

EDIT: oh, and, if the bible is true, how can you possibly justify keeping snakes without perceiving them as EVIL INCARNATE? and how can you not believe that they once talked and walked in the garden of eden?

Actually the Bible doesn't say snakes are evil. The snake was simply the forum the devil took to temp eve. And why would anyone contact you to argue/discuss something that can't be proven? Faith is a belief in something that you can't "prove". I'm Christian myself, and while I agree that there are many Christians that are off there rockers, there are just as many atheists that are looney too. And by bashing and ridiculing someone's beliefs, that you cannot disprove, you are no better.

Realities require evidence, so in order to be true faith there must be proof to back the belief.

So there is no faith without proof? Not looking good for anyone who believes in any diety. How can you prove the existence of a higher power? You can't, hence faith.

Just showing what the Higher Power had to say about faith...take it or leave it.

As for lack of proof, here are 2 lines of evidence that come to mind...

"For his invisible qualities are clearly seen from the world's creation onward, because they are perceived by the things made, even his eternal power and Godship, so that they are inexcusable."—Romans 1:20, NWT

"For prophecy was at no time brought by man’s will, but men spoke from God as they were moved by Holy Spirit."—2 Peter 1:22, NWT

An examination of these 2 points (creation and Bible prophecy) provide all the proof one needs in order to have faith if they are looking for it. If, as we Christians believe, God is a loving and caring Father to us, it makes very little sense for him to expect us to blindly believe in him. Surely if a sinful human Father wants his children to know him and understand him, how much more so would a perfect Spiritual Father want his children to know him and understand him.

I used to get upset about all this stuff too. The fact of the matter is all you can do is tell them where they are wrong, after that you've done your part. There's really nothing else you can do and getting upset about it only effects you. It's unfortunate, but I'll tell you, a lot of people get defensive, and then they'll do the research to try and prove you wrong. You'll never hear them say that you were right, but most of the time people will fix their mistakes.

    Ooooo the religion topic.

    1) Faith is important;
    2) Organized religion is hypocritical and capitalizes on people's beliefs.

    I am pagan.
