if the person actually sat on it. many things could of happened including
multiple broken bones and fractures(poss. skull jaw spine ribs) soft tissue damage could be lung stomach ruptures even intestine ruptures.
i dont think there is much any individual could do themselves.

he could have spinal damage, try not to move him so much and get it to a vet ASAP

any good vet has a emergency 24/7 # call it and if they dont come right to you they will arange to meet you in there office immediately.

that snake is in excruciating pain to make an audible plea for help like that.

it would be cruel to not contact a vet as in have the phone in your hand right now.

agreed, and no offense but your friend is a dumb ass, who sits on there pet snake. you don't just toss it on the couch take a shower and forget about it. like your cell phone or tv remote. i have never sat on my cat and its on the couch more then i am.

i sure hope he/she is bucking up for a the vet right now and your contacting one, because it may not pull through its cruel to not take it immediately and its a CRIME, that is punishable by law. not that any of us can do anything about it on here but if your going to tell me that they are going to ride it out and see what happens ill be pretty disgusted.

My rescue had an RI and even after meds started, she cried like a grown cat one night. It was loud and very freaky.

The whole thing smells kind of fishy.

Snakes don't cry. They don't make noises when they're in pain and depending on the size of the person sitting and what the snake was on when that person sat, there may be no damage at all.

It could be as simple as an RI and some wheezing.

Show some pics if you please.

wilomn, I know that you are very adamant in what you believe, but a snake in pain will make a noise like a cat. I was in the room with mine when she did so and have absolutely no reason to make it up and risk looking like an ass. Consider yourself lucky you've never heard it.

While I have no doubt you heard something, the lack of vocal chords pretty much precludes a snake vocalizing anything.

I've heard gasps and wheezes and sneezes and coughs but NEVER a cry like a kitten.

I don't think you're making that part up but I do think you may be anthropomorphizing a bit.

As I mentioned, the details of this supposed sitting upon of would be useful in determining just what exactly happened.

About a million years ago a guy name of Al Robbins used to do presentations with his reptiles at schools. Part of his show was where he sat on a sidewinder to show how it didn't bother the snake. I think he sat on a big ol retic too but am unclear on that. The sidewinder had it's mouth sewn shut so it couldn't bite but he sat the heck out of it time and again.

I'm not doubting you got an injured or sick snake, I'm just doubting the story you were handed with it.

I can't understand why you're such an ass and why you would try and make me feel worse. I was writing here through my iPhone driving to vets. I'm in San bernardino and there isn't good resources here. I am a college student who had midterms. I was trying to help my FRIENDS snake but I felt bad so I seeked help. You guys are always great help so I figured I'd try. Just be more considerate when you state your opinions thank you.

On a happier note she made it through the night. No crying and no foaming. I gave my friend the number of dr. Greek I believe so hopefully he gets an appt.

Wait.. you just wrote "I was writing here through my iPhone driving to vets. " .. but it hasn't been seen by a vet? You also started this out with "I got a python from a friend that accidently sat on it ", but now, you don't HAVE the snake, he still does?

I'm confused here. DO you have the snake? Did you indeed take it to the vet?

And Wilomn, I've also heard a snake make a sound similar to a kitten's cry. It was indeed an RI, and was the noise of the breath being forced through a mucus filled/swollen airway, NOT a "cry of pain". I'd go as far as saying it was sign of the snake being in distress, but I'd think more of a involuntary 'cry'. No vocal cords = no way to "cry out", much less crying in pain. A distressed noise of a very sick animal though, and very disturbing.

ok......i was studying in my apartment when my class mate calls and brings snake to apt. He tells me it is sick it. it makes that noise and is drooling. i did make a thread about it. we then drive to local vets here in san bernardino because i go to cal state san bernrdino. we had no luck because this city is horrible and has no good vets. (no emergency ) There is a storm here so we couldnt drive too far. so we come back to apt. i set her up in a tank and have her warm. i studied a bit more because i had midterm with the snakes tank by my side. she seemed betterwith no drooling and no noises. it was now 3am went to bed woke up at 6 checked on her seemed fine again. before i went to school because i had test at 8am i gave him number. (he spent the night) and told him to try and call or take it. i am in class as we speak and will see what happens. that is the whole story.

And forward this to your friend as well.

    Quote:

Animal abuse and neglect is when:

Any person, maliciously and intentionally maims, mutilates, tortures, wounds, or kills a living animal.
Any person overrides, overloads, overworks, torments, or deprives an animal of necessary food, water, or shelter.
Any person intentionally, for amusement or gain, fights any animal against another animal.
Any person permits an animal to go without veterinary care for an injury.
If they cannot or will not care for the animal, find a nearby herp rescue and surrender it. Or take it to one of the vets that deals with exotics and surrender it. Please don't just let it lie there and suffer. You can help.

    Ahhh.. that makes more sense.
Are you sure you have the heat at a good temp? Too cool and the possible RI will get worse(if it's RI), and too hot, and the snake will stress and die.
Good luck, and make sure your friend takes the snake to the vet. it's a pet, and needs care.

    Rude schmude.

You say you're a college student. Writing an accurate timeline with actual facts should not be beyond your capabilities. Of course you are schooling in Ca. so perhaps timelines and accuracy are beyond you.

It's not the fault of the readers when the writer incorrectly relates pertinent facts.

My guess is your friend is lying to you.

As far as noises, I've heard my share of respiratory related noises. I've also raised far more than my fair share of kittens.

I have yet to hear a snake cry like a kitten. You may have, it's entirely possible, but I haven't.

PS...I've seen your posts and not trying to start an argument with you :)

Ca. has some fine schools. Some of those fine schools turn out some fine students. Some of those fine students can actually put on paper a timeline that has real facts in it. Not only can they, some of them, do that, but they do it chronologically and without personal embellishment.

OP, you're young. It's a looooooong standing joke that Ca. has some poorly edumacated people graduating from ALL of its schools. So, I'll forgive you for not getting a jest that you may not have an actual reference to but as for the rest, it stands.

It's not about your school, but it is, as always when communicating in a written medium, in part, about how you put your thoughts into words.

Don't blame me for not understanding that you didn't write what you meant to say.

I commend you for your efforts on behalf of the snake yet I must question both your story and those very efforts. This storm is not bad. Are you on a bicycle or riding a bus? There's this website called Google. You can find almost anything there including emergency vets in San Berdu county.

Yeah, I'm an old meany but I bet you'll do better next time you write.
