    Re: python crying! (rescue)

The whole thing smells kind of fishy.

Snakes don't cry. They don't make noises when they're in pain and depending on the size of the person sitting and what the snake was on when that person sat, there may be no damage at all.

It could be as simple as an RI and some wheezing.

Show some pics if you please.

wilomn, I know that you are very adamant in what you believe, but a snake in pain will make a noise like a cat. I was in the room with mine when she did so and have absolutely no reason to make it up and risk looking like an ass. Consider yourself lucky you've never heard it.

While I have no doubt you heard something, the lack of vocal chords pretty much precludes a snake vocalizing anything.

I've heard gasps and wheezes and sneezes and coughs but NEVER a cry like a kitten.

I don't think you're making that part up but I do think you may be anthropomorphizing a bit.

As I mentioned, the details of this supposed sitting upon of would be useful in determining just what exactly happened.

About a million years ago a guy name of Al Robbins used to do presentations with his reptiles at schools. Part of his show was where he sat on a sidewinder to show how it didn't bother the snake. I think he sat on a big ol retic too but am unclear on that. The sidewinder had it's mouth sewn shut so it couldn't bite but he sat the heck out of it time and again.

I'm not doubting you got an injured or sick snake, I'm just doubting the story you were handed with it.

I can't understand why you're such an ass and why you would try and make me feel worse. I was writing here through my iPhone driving to vets. I'm in San bernardino and there isn't good resources here. I am a college student who had midterms. I was trying to help my FRIENDS snake but I felt bad so I seeked help. You guys are always great help so I figured I'd try. Just be more considerate when you state your opinions thank you.

On a happier note she made it through the night. No crying and no foaming. I gave my friend the number of dr. Greek I believe so hopefully he gets an appt.

So the snake hasn't been seen by a vet yet, or am I misunderstanding your post?

And as far as the "crying" noise, it did cry loudly consider yoursel fortunate you didn't have to hear that.

    Re: python crying! (rescue)

Wait.. you just wrote "I was writing here through my iPhone driving to vets. " .. but it hasn't been seen by a vet? You also started this out with "I got a python from a friend that accidently sat on it ", but now, you don't HAVE the snake, he still does?

I'm confused here. DO you have the snake? Did you indeed take it to the vet?

And Wilomn, I've also heard a snake make a sound similar to a kitten's cry. It was indeed an RI, and was the noise of the breath being forced through a mucus filled/swollen airway, NOT a "cry of pain". I'd go as far as saying it was sign of the snake being in distress, but I'd think more of a involuntary 'cry'. No vocal cords = no way to "cry out", much less crying in pain. A distressed noise of a very sick animal though, and very disturbing.

    Re: python crying! (rescue)

ok......i was studying in my apartment when my class mate calls and brings snake to apt. He tells me it is sick it. it makes that noise and is drooling. i did make a thread about it. we then drive to local vets here in san bernardino because i go to cal state san bernrdino. we had no luck because this city is horrible and has no good vets. (no emergency ) There is a storm here so we couldnt drive too far. so we come back to apt. i set her up in a tank and have her warm. i studied a bit more because i had midterm with the snakes tank by my side. she seemed betterwith no drooling and no noises. it was now 3am went to bed woke up at 6 checked on her seemed fine again. before i went to school because i had test at 8am i gave him number. (he spent the night) and told him to try and call or take it. i am in class as we speak and will see what happens. that is the whole story.
