unfortunately I tore a tendon in my knee and have been out of work since October. I've already borrowed the money I could to help pay bills thro the last couple of months, I don't go back to work until March 8th. Don't judge me, I love my snake and don't want him to suffer which is why I'm trying to figure out what I can do by myself. If i could bring him to the vet I would but I LITERALLY can not afford it, I've had to get car payments and other deferred because I can not pay them, i'm not just trying to be cheap with my pet, I have no money. and the vet does not bill, they need it up front and it is $70 to walk in the door, that includes a check up only, no treatment, medicine or anything else.

Re: Please Please Please Help Me

A 40 gallons tank is in no way appropriated for 1 or even 2 BP that size.

You need to separate them and put them in a 15 quarts tub each, the female IS dominating the male, which explain why the male is not eating. A dominated stressed BP will refuse to eat so will an un-healthy BP.

The health problem is something that requires veterinary care, it is very possible that at this stage your BP will require anti-biotic.

I understand you might have financial problems however you can always ask for a payment plan.

Animal ownership is not cheap and if you cannot separate them, care for them appropriately, or afford vet care than you need to re-home both animals.

When animals become a financial burden and are suffering because of it, than it is up to YOU to do the right for both the animals and yourself and this includes re-homing the animals you cannot care for adequately.

Is there another solution besides separating, because again, this is a cost i can not endure right now. They live in a 40 gal tank. I have added the mossy area for humidity and have been applying neosporin to the area.

and no, even if i had a dog, i could not bring him to the vet at the moment with the $3 i have in my bank account at the moment.
Perhaps surrendering him to a rescue where he CAN get the veterinary care that he needs might be the best solution right now.

Separating them during feeding does not solve the domination problem. A dominated animal (they're not cuddling, btw), is more prone to fasting, suppressed immune system, and illnesses.

Just look at the pictures you've posted - he NEEDS medical attention. You've asked for suggestions, separating them is what any of us will tell you.

You can pick up a six quart tub for $1, and get a UTH and thermostat for him and separate him from the female.

Otherwise, you're going to quite literally - love him to death.

No one is judging you, we are just trying to suggest options for you so that you can do the best for your pet.

If you cannot provide for your pet, I would find someone who can foster them until you are able to.

i understand you're in a hard situation but the fact is unfortunately that he will die if you do not initiate the suggestions we have given immediately. i am not judging you in any way. however there is no other solution besides separating them and a vet visit. the risk of death in his current situation is rather high, he is highly stressed, not eating. has physical issues with his well being and is probably advancing in stages of infection. He would be considered to be in very poor health right now.

thats actually the female showing her dominance over the male. snakes generally are anti social and will not cuddle at all.

No, they are not cuddling. That is the female dominating over the male and the reason why he won't eat.
