Carpet Python vs BCI
So I currently have 1 Kenyan Sand Boa, however have had two Ball Pythons in the past (fully grown) and on top of getting a male for my female KSB, I would love to get another "medium-large" snake.
I have narrowed it down to either a Carpet or a BCI...(BCI's are the ones that are NORMALLY smaller than BCC's, right?)
From what I have read, their husbandry is very similar.
I was just wondering what your opinions were on the two?
I know that even if I go with a BCI, he will be a bit bigger than a Carpet...
Oh ya, and what are we looking at price-wise? Not looking for any special morphs, probably won't breed HIM (wanting a male)...
Any info would be appreciated! Thanks

Re: Carpet Python vs BCI
Like you said, husbandry will be relatively the same for both of them. I think carpets will be more expensive, b/c you can get a normal male BCI for ~75 at a show or online.
Yes, BCI's run smaller than BCC's....but don't think of it as a rule, there are still some monster BCI's, both male and female. If you are worried about the size/strength I would get a carpet, as they just dont get as thick.
I like carpets, but we have a pair of het albino BCI's and I absolutely love them. They are very docile, sooooo easy to feed, have shed perfectly except for a little tail tip that came off in 5 mins with a washcloth (once), and grow pretty quick, which is cool to see your little guys growing up.
Colin will probably chime in for the carpet side, but I think it really is a choice down to size and color/pattern....whichever you like better. If you decide to get a boa, check out jimisnakes.com . He has a great collection, awesome pricing and our transaction was supersmooth.

Re: Carpet Python vs BCI
the biggest difference will be mass. a BCI can be twice the weight of a carpet as an adult, even if they're the same length.
as far as husbandry goes... BCI's are more sensitive to humidity i believe and are harder to breed. otherwise, they should be somewhat similar.
for price... i see lots of carpets in the $75-$100 range too... like on my website for example.
