    Question Carpet Python vs BCI

So I currently have 1 Kenyan Sand Boa, however have had two Ball Pythons in the past (fully grown) and on top of getting a male for my female KSB, I would love to get another "medium-large" snake.

I have narrowed it down to either a Carpet or a BCI...(BCI's are the ones that are NORMALLY smaller than BCC's, right?)

From what I have read, their husbandry is very similar.
I was just wondering what your opinions were on the two?
I know that even if I go with a BCI, he will be a bit bigger than a Carpet...
Oh ya, and what are we looking at price-wise? Not looking for any special morphs, probably won't breed HIM (wanting a male)...

Any info would be appreciated! Thanks

    Re: Carpet Python vs BCI

I think BCI are easier to care for and more tolerant of husbandry mishaps. I'm not sure on the "myth" that BCI stay smaller than BCC though. It does depend on locality, but a Colombian BCI will get just as big as a Suriname. You most likely will be looking to spend anywheres from 125-200 shipped for a quality BCI male.

    Re: Carpet Python vs BCI

well BCI males are generally the same size as a large female ball python so about 5 ft ... and as for pricing it depends they can go anwhere from 99.00 and up from what I've seen. And yes there are morphs and as for morphs you know that they can be more expensive... I just bought a salmon (BCI) red tail boa and she was decently priced especially wor her markings and color. but it depends on what you're looking for.. I like clean patterns some like speckled patterns so it depends on what you like and what you consider reasonable for the animal you like... you can get "normal" BCI pretty cheap and they are just as nice if not better in some cases as the morphs... hope this helped!!

    Re: Carpet Python vs BCI

I own multiples of both species and different localities of each as well.

I really LOVE boas dont get me wrong...but Carpets are slowing gaining my favoritism.
