Unhappy I feel like a fool.... sorry everyone

So myself, C and my bf all went to this guy's house to try to talk him into giving us the snake, and if he refused then I was going to take pics of the condition it was being kept in and go to the police...

When we got there the snake was in a large enough tank, had a hide box, a full water dish and a heat light. There was a rat sitting in another tank waiting to be dinner.

I don't know whether this chick C lied to me or if this guy suddenly pulled a 180 and is now taking care of the snake all of a sudden... But either way I feel like a complete tool and a moron. The snake didn't look real skinny so I'm going to have to take a guess that C was just making stuff up or atleast exagerating a whole lot.

So here I am, with somebody from a reptile rescue waiting for me to bring her this abused, sickly snake... Me walking into this guy's house ready to start quoting him laws and fine amounts for the willful neglect and animal cruelty, about to start demanding he surrender his animal that he's been torturing...

And the snake is perfectly fine.

I don't know... Maybe C. wasn't lieing and maybe she just told him enough times that he's not taking care of it right and it finally sunk in and he started taking care of it all of a sudden. I know he didn't know we were coming so I know it wasn't just a show.

So either way the snake is doing well. I am SOOOO sorry for getting everyone involved in this b.s. and wasting everyone's time. I feel stupid, but I know that I did what I could to try and save an abused animal, so I feel good about that... I just feel decieved. And glad that the burm is doing well.

    Sorry again.

Re: Anyone near s/e WI.. help rescue burm??

We'll, your intentions were in the right place. You did more than most people would have done in trying to help that burm, plus now you know of a good rescue group. Maybe you need to have a good talk with this C person though!

No worries hun! You were doing the best thing you thought. You did what you could, and for that you are no fool. C may have just been exaggerating to get attention. If she is with abusive guys she may just be trying to boost up her ego so she does not have to admit to being stupid....

Any who, I don't think you would have come on here making the statements you have with out fully believing what you were told.

Don't feel silly just be glad it wasn't what you were told.

Don't be sorry. If this whole forum got together and came up with an ideal outcome, this would have been it!

Regardless of what actually happened, I'd much rather see a neglectful pet owner correct his errors than have a reptile rescue need to get involved and have another hungry scaly mouth to feed.
