Hahah! I am very fortunate that she has a great appetite. Has been eating all her meals since I got her. My little fatty 😊

Well, she got the heat signature and something must have suddenly smelled like prey to her. Who knows, something in a hair product or perfume ? Many perfumes contain (some natural, some synthetic) "musk" to give them a bit..uh...sexy/animalistic vibe? Some contain pheromones.
With their Jacobson organ or sense of smell, perhaps something just triggered her for a second, and that plus the heat your head gives off, BAM.
She still loves you
Hmmm, did not know that. Good to know! Thanks!
Shes so fat hahah. She just ate Wednesday. But I’m thinking I need increase the size of her rats. Gonna order some today. It may be my shampoo. Or also I had her wrapped in my jacket so may be the smell of my spray. That makes complete sense though. She let go after about 5 seconds after she realized I was no rat lol.
I still love her too, just gonna keep her away from my face now.

Oh wow! Yeaah, he should’ve at least given you a warning. Did the Cal-king’s Bite hurt?
Yeah, after I cleaned it up, you can’t tell I even got bit. I was showing my dad and he kept asking where lol. I didn’t pull on her or anything, I let her come off herself. So I don’t think there are any teeth. I was feeling around to check and I don’t feel anything. It does sting just a tad bit, but that’s all.
That Cal-king's bite did NOT hurt, but it startled me for sure and bled profusely! What better advertising in a pet (reptile) store, eh? A customer walking around
with a very bloody Kleenex held to their nose trying to stop the bleeding...there's just no "padding" on the bridge of your nose, lol. Just as your bite will, it healed fine.
From now on, don't let your snake know it's Thanksgiving... ("This must be it!"???) hahaha...

Hahah I can just imagine! Yeah, I’m not worried about it not healing. It already looks like it didn’t even happen.
And that makes total sense. She was upset at me bc she didn’t get a thanksgiving rat lol.

Re: My first bite
I've been preaching for years about keeping snakes away from faces ( and eyes ! ) ... I had a couple of close shaves a few years ago involving King snakes kept in eye-level vivs . Both strikes were at feeding time but I started wearing my reading glasses whenever I opened the sliding glass doors of their vivs.

If I have any doubts about a snake I've put on sunglasses or the clear eye protector goggles I use for power tools, but honestly that is rare for me to do.
I've always wondered if the glasses might also provoke a bite, since they make our eyes look even bigger & perhaps more predatory? But safety first, vision is
pretty important.

There is someone in the UK forum who got a bad snake bite though her eyeball just a few years ago z
I'll do some digging and try and find out how things turned out ..

I know, I remember seeing that (someone had posted it before) & probably not the only one anyway. Not something I'd like to try out, & it bears reminding...

Re: My first bite
Having owned snakes longer than most people have been alive on this forum, I just shake my head. I watch YouTube video after YouTube video of people having snakes around their face. Now posting a proud photo of getting hammered between the eyes? How does that even happen? Oh I know beinng on the phone and not concentrating on a snake (heaven forbid missing that Snapchat picture). If it were me I would choose between the snake or that next text. Regardless of how much you love your snake, just remember it doesn't love you......toleration is the BEST you can ever hope for from a snake with a spritz of trust. Have I ever been bit? Literally dozens of times but never even close to my face. I know I will get smoked for this post but I care more for your eyesight than ANY snake. I'm transparent in my posts and I don't hide my feelings or the truth.
Ball Pythons are for reptile lovers. Giant Pythons are for snake lovers.
