it will take a while for the bottom to reach the right temp, and you might need to bump up your thermostat a degree or two, but it works like any other hide.

EDIT: place the hide and after an hour, check the bottom with a temp gun.
But I’ll still want to keep the glass temperature below the point of too hot for him correct? Not the inside hide temp?
