To answer your questions recessive is a classification. You will want to understand basic genetics for I explain more. Mutation is just a name we give to a gene that isn't the normal type you'd typical find in the wild. What you stated is incorrect, if you bred a yellow belly pin to a normal you have a chance at yellow belly pins, yellow bellies, pins, and normals.
