Heck, you can even get salmonella from plant food, if it is not sanitary. Sanitation is key.
eating herbivores only as a rule sounds more like a cultural taboo, rather than any scientific rationale behind it.
Oh the diet plays a huge role in terms of meat safety and how to handle/cook it. 100% sanitation is key. There is a reason you can cook a steak from a cow rare and not get sick, while if you ate pork rare you could get extremely sick. Of course, all meats have a risk. Let's say you have a deer that strictly eats grass just like it would in the wild, no added hormones or whatever drugs they use these days, and on the other hand, you have a snake that eats its regular diet of rats (which are carriers of many diseases) which do you think would be safer to eat rare? Definitely a lot of science behind it. Every meat has the right way of handling it and the wrong way.
I was only asking just to see how the folks ate theirs, not to say oh it's not healthy or clean to eat it. Just curious to know more info is all.
