I work part time as a "Circulation Aide" at one of the libraries a bit north of me. Basically, I shelve books, pull books for holds, shelve holds, and help patrons at the desk by answering their questions, helping them find things, and making library cards. From April to October, I work as the promotions assistant for Colorado National Speedway.
I have a degree in criminology/criminal justice, which I might try to do something with at some point. Sometimes I help a couple of my former professors with projects they're working on, which usually pays really well and tend to be very interesting (I spent great chunks of last summer in jails throughout the state, for example). The library has been fun, but they're only allowed to give me 20 hours a week, and I can only pick up shifts adding up to 28 hours a week, which is hard to live on. Additionally, a few of the people there are very, very politically vocal, so as time passes I feel like if they knew how I really was, and what some of my hobbies were, they would run me out with torches and pitchforks. I have a big trip in August, and after that point I'll probably try looking for something else.
The Speedway job, on the other hand, means so much to me that someone will have to pry it out of my cold, dead hands.

Hey, did I mention I deal with numbers all day, love excel, wear glasses, and collect reptiles?
If I didn't race cars and love sports, I would be a total nerd!
Of course, before you get too excited (ladies), I have the best partner in the world (the infamous Katie), so I am not advertising.

Take your time, but always be working on growing as person and educating yourself; you will get where you want to go!

Re: What does everyone do for a living?
I'm an iron worker. I was basically born into it. My grandfather did it, my dad did it, and now I do it. Hopefully I can break the cycle because I don't want my son having to follow in the family footsteps. The money is good but it's not worth bleeding almost every day and after 20 years at it, I'm falling apart and I don't know how much longer my back is gonna allow me to keep doing it

I breed snakes for a living. I also breed Black Angus cattle, have a couple dogs I breed once a year, sell fertile duck hatching eggs, and breed rats and mice. I also buy and sell bales of hay, I buy them from a guy I know up north and resell them here in the mountains for a bit of a markup, helps to feed my cattle. Basically I just work around the farm here all day long and I love every minute of it! I did work as a scientist for over 20 years, not old enough to collect a retirement, I basically just switched professions LOL.
