My adult Lesser girl went on a 6 + month long hunger strike after having eaten weekly frozen/thawed on a regular basis with no problem. I really wanted to breed her this year, so I finally gave in and started feeding her live. The life expectancy of a live rat in her tub is about 3 - 5 seconds every 7 days! I'm getting ready to start my own rat breeding program very soon and I swear i'm just going to start feeding live to (at least) my female Ball Pythons exclusively. I also have a Mystic girl, who is approaching sexual maturity and she doesn't want anything to do with eating frozen/thawed half of the time, either. My adult male Mojave won't eat for weeks at a time, either. The wasted frozen/thawed rats are getting expensive and i'm just about done trying to keep Ball Pythons eating them regularly...
I feel the same. My youngin’ ball pythons will eat about anything as they are growing like weeds. My adults are so reluctant unless I give them something to actually kill first! Feeding live is just way easier, as it’s unnatural for a ball python to eat a rat corpse. They want to kill and eat it still warm, and super fresh!
