Are they the best? No. Are they the most precise? No.
But they are widely available, are accurate enough, and are reliable. You can get more expensive items that have great precision and the ability to calibrate within a fraction of a degree but unless you are breeding million dollar investments there is really no reason to get better than acurite.
I currently have many different models for all sorts of uses and they are all doing their job.
One thing about them is they take a few days to get dialed in. After that they all stay pretty rock solid. If they are a degree or two off I really don't care that much. For the price they can't be beat.
