Not too sure what dimensions to look for when buying my male ball python a pvc enclosure soon. Any suggestions are much appreciated!
I have a 36" x 12" x 12" which I was told would be sufficient for the rest of a 'males' lifetime but if I could do it over again, I would make sure it was deeper then 12".
my 900g 3-year-old male is in a 4x2x2 AP T8. he probably doesn't need all that room and i might switch him out with one of my females way down the road, but for now it works for him and he likes it.

You can probably get away with a 3' x 2' x 1-2', but if you plan on ordering from animal plastics, you might as well just get the the 4' cage. The T3 (3' x 2' x 1') is $175 and the T5 (3' x 2' x 2') is $235. In comparison, the T8 (4' x 2' x 1') is $150 and the T-10 (4' x 2' x 15") is $195. From a cost and animal benefit perspective, I see no reason not to get a 4' cage.
If I were to make a recommendation, I would get the T10 for $195. It is $45 more than the T8 and $20 more than the T3, but you get a 4' cage with a little extra head space. You'll find this very convenient when moving the snake and cleaning the cage even if 3" doesn't seem like a lot.
