Re: My first ball python!... I'm concerned

In the first pic you posted, is your snake's belly pinkish/red or is it just the light refracting through the tub?

All of the pictures I have of him and his belly are of in the tub. They all seem to have that pinkish tint. Why? Should I be worried?

it could be a burn or the beginning of a shed.

it's gona be okay! i'd check his belly out. from the pic it doesn't look so bad, but would you mind posting a good pic of the belly? it'll help us get a better idea of what you're dealing with.

Re: My first ball python!... I'm concerned

Okay so I did the best I could with him trying really hard to explore my bed. It looks more like a dusty light brown than pink, but I can see the pink tint slightly in some pictures (I couldn't really see it with my eyes). I tried some with flash and some without.

The great news is that I decided to try feeding him today, and I was planning on recording his strike but I wasn't able to because the second the mouse touched the floor he struck. He gobbled it right up and now he's contently sitting half-in his hide.

Also the bulb I bought yesterday suddenly isn't working anymore so I'm going to exchange it today and I bought some aspen to use as bedding once I change the paper towels out. I laid some seran wrap over top of half of his cage to try to keep some moisture in.

    congrats on the feeding!
i don't see anything in those photos that would make me worry; it could have just been the lighting. i'd trust your eyes.

I've never had to deal with any burns with any of my snakes, so not 100% on this one, but I don't see anything to worry about.

Belly looks fine imo, the cage was very dirty to start so maybe take a warm wet paper towel, make an O, and kind of wash her off. I use a non toxic reptile cleaner, and works great. Sometimes my girl likes to sleep in her poo.
