    The man was recently deceased and the snake found him still warm.

    Was extremely drunk or incapacitated by use of another drug.

    In any case, bad press. A snake that is hungry enough will eat anything it can swallow. Even humans when hungry enough will eat each other so it is no surprise that when given the opportunity a large snake will eat a person. There is no moral dilemma in a snake's tiny brain.
