Well the other problem is even if the screw threads arent sharp or covered the snake will go up there again and there is a chance to get cut on the egde/corners of that also... I suggested in the first few replies to cover the whole RHP like people do a interior heat lamp. Get a close knit rabbit/chicken fencing or metal screening over the RHP so the snake cant get to any part of it period.
But won't that possibly mess up the heating ? Given that they are "radiant" heat panels and the heat radiates off what it hits ? So if the grid is small enough for the snake not to get through it, won't it be dense enough to have a lot of the heat bounce off of it and back up ?

Granted, I have NO idea. I'm just wondering..
