    But I agree, that is really not a good way at all. Of course an animal will try to squeeze up in there and the threads of the screws can be SHARP.

    I would try to wedge something around the screws, perhaps like the stuff you insulate pipes with ? Just wide enough that there is not gap between screw and the edge of the housing. Don't use tape for anything though.
    Wow you found a pic! What a terrible design. Why would they ever make it so it had a ledge like that... Even the sheetmetal they used looks like it has sharp edges and corners... PRO PRODUCTS & REPTILE BASICS are specifically smooth and designed without any ledge or way for a snake to crawl up into them.. Thats crazy, my balls would be all cut up, all mine do is climb.
