(This isn't directed at you, Soord, as I understand you're talking about under different circumstances.)
I personally would consider it a jerk move to bring in a second snake against the homeowners wishes, I've personally done that before and it loses you trust and causes arguments and it's just stressful. It's okay to ponder the idea and what-not, but if they go to the homeowners and discuss it and still get turned down they should respect that.
