True, but we humans like to give things names. We have at least five bicycles in our house with names: Daisey, Molly, Wendy, Archie (short for Archaeopteryx), and Reflecty. A ball python won't come when you call it, but it might come for its own reasons. A bicycle won't even do that!
Years ago my dad named his bike Rosinante, after Don Quixote's steed.

Our new guy is named Hoosac, after a railroad tunnel that my partner is really fascinated with (Our landlady's comment was that there is something topologically mind-bending about naming a snake after a tunnel). My old corn snake was named Eclipse, and the BP I had before him was named Oswaft after some creatures in a fairly obscure Star Wars spin-off novel that I was into in middle school (the Lando Calrissian Adventures).

I feel like I've seen a whole bunch of references on this forum to snakes named after sweets or desserts of various kinds...
