She wanted to get a gecko there.

Also when I go to reptile shops I always see girls there looking at reptiles, more guys than girls yes, but plenty of girls love them.

One other thing is perhaps you half expect them to not like snakes, so subconciously when you mention them you are almost apologizing for having them. I LOVE my snakes and will start talking about them (perhaps too) enthusiastically to anyone who would listen. I honestly have NEVER had anyone, male or female, ask me "why". The vast majority of people think my reptiles are absolutely fascinating. When I take my tegu out for a walk, people, both guys and girls come over to talk and ask to take a picture with him. People in my neighbourhood (restaurant owners, the people at the hardware store, the security guard at my building (who happens to be a girl), the people working at the supermarket etc. would see me, and say "Hey! How's your lizard doing?" etc. There was on the news recently a water monitor loose seen nearby, and everyone would ask me "Is that the same kind as yours?" etc.
Heh. I am this way too. I just start talking about my fur and scale babies and if you don't wanna hear it you better stop me or you'll know their life stories My BP is a favorite for some friends to take snake selfies with.
