Re: Couple questions
I can only support what has been said. We feed in tank with plastic tipped tongs. I've never had ours look like she is feeding just by the tank lid opening. If we are feeding I scent her enclosure with the rat and she begins looking for food right away. No scent, no feeding response.

I typically dangle the ft mouse or rat (with forceps) to get the snake interested in it, drop it as soon as they get a good strike in and close the tank. I like to watch them eat at this point, but I do it from a couple feet back and hold absolutely still. Also, snake vomit is honestly the grossest smell I've ever encountered.

Re: Couple questions
Same here. Even though I can tell my snake is on the hunt I can reach my hand in (as long as I don't smell like a rat) with no problem at all. She can be in her hide and as soon as she smells the rat she is OUT!!! I guess I just have an aggressive eater. She will take the rat from the tongs within a minute. Then just like PhoenixGate, I step back a few feet and watch. I just like to make sure she doesn't ingest any substrate.

Though, I would feed a slightly larger prey. About the same size round as the widest part of your snake.
ok, thanks. i have 4 more frozen that size. think it is ok to finish them off then go bigger?

Yeah, you can finish them off, no need to waste food. I'd try rat pups if you can get them. Maybe something slightly smaller, but I think rat pups will be just fine. Your BP looks approx the same size as my Darwin.
