    If he's a pet, then a pastel is a pastel. He'll make a great pet.

    However, if you intend to breed, a pastel is not just a pastel. Not all pastels are created equally.
    The pastel you wanted originally was a much better example of the morph than the one you received. When you breed, you want to breed the best representations of the morph. Breeding poor examples, just produces more poor examples and muddies up the already saturated gene pool. And in my opinion, he shouldn't be bred.
