I've been pretty lucky though in that most of my friends didn't bat an eye when I started keeping reptiles, they've seen me do much stranger things. It's the encounters with the general public (small talk in waiting rooms, grocery store, work, etc) where I'm reminded the whole world doesn't love snakes

It's the same for me. My friends don't care at all, but it can kill a conversation with a stranger really fast. Doesn't help that I immediately (and most likely irreparably) dislike anyone that doesn't tolerate/like snakes... it severely limits the amount of people on the planet that I like
