    The quit smoking thread!

i remember reading a New Years resolution thread and seeing quite a few people that wanted to quit smoking this year. well guess what? so do i. and i know i can.. and i know YOU can. i know it has been done before, many times, by human people just like us. so it is possible. quit telling yourself that it isn't. (i need to quit telling myself the same) i've also read that people have a much higher success rate of quitting when they have support and people to go through it with. since all my friends are heathens () and refuse to put em down, i come here for support. plus i'm at work right now, about 36 hours in, about to pull my hair out and scream at an undeserving customer. if i wasn't writing this thread, i'd be outside lighting one up, so this is giving me something to do. it doesn't help that this is what i'll be standing right next to for the next 8 hours...

every time a customer comes in and buys some they pass right through my hands.. so close. right there in front of me. tempting me. whispering sweet nothings in my ear. it's torture. but i know it won't last and my lungs and wallet will thank me eventually. so if you're quitting too, i'll support you if you support me. lol and if you're one of those heathens that refuse to quit, tell me an interesting fact or something to stimulate my mind. lol

My last smoke was 354 days ago...wasn't easy then, still isn't easy all the time, but definitely possible to stop. I still want to light one up almost on a daily basis, but honestly, I'm feeling better, keep myself more active and motivated, and saving money. Good luck to you...just popped in because I feel like as soon as I think I've "quit" and am in the clear, I'll be back to a pack a day within the week.

Just keep telling yourself that you will never smoke another cigarette again. Everyday you do not have a cigarette, you will be a non smoker. I have not had one since October of 89 but I still occasionally have that urge when I get a wiff of someone lighting up. I also know that if I had a cigarette today, I would be a smoker again tomorrow. I will wish you strong will as you do not need good luck. If you need incentive, think of a morph you really want and calculate how long it will take you to save the money by not buying cigarettes. Then do it and go get that morph. We are here for you.

Man you should stop so that you're around for the two little ones in your avatar. They need you healthy.

At my work smokers go out for "smoke breaks" all the time. They prolly get at least an extra 30-45minutes of break time a day. Essentially they get paid to smoke for like 3hrs a week. If i touch my phone i get written up though. It angers me beyond written description.

Id never take up the habit myself. The habit itself doesnt bother me much. Its not a gross habit imo. What youre breathing in and what it does to your body is yucky though haha. Ive tried cigars before and theyre ok. The smell cigarette smoke doesnt even bother me really. I just hate that smokers are treated differently at my work.

see when i quit for a while i couldnt stand the smell of them. some people would come up to me right after smoking and i would literally almost gag. and the whole break thing is the same way at my work. that was part of the reason i kept smoking for so long. to get the extra little breaks. im about to start tellin the boss i need a "smoke" break and just go sit outside for 5 minutes at a time. lol you should do the same. use it to check your phone. lol
