Animal Planet is pretty much a HSUS PETA channel now for animal rights radicals. Anything that is not a mainstream pet(i.e. a dog or cat) is villified and presented as too dangerous to be allowed to be owned by ANYONE at ANY time.
In addition, there's the ton of shows that villify any owner of more than one dog or a dog and a cat. Anyone owning exotics is some whack-job who screams about satan or wants to kiss cobras to feel the thrill. Never mind all of the responsible owners of geckos or the people who own venomous because they respect and love the animals.
The instant they started up with the ridiculous lying garbage that is Whale Wars, I shut it down. It was sliding downhill quickly, but that just put the last nail in the coffin.
Python Hunters is AWESOME. I mean, you can't help but love a tv show that the main people on it are members here and have been in the reptile world so long and been so available to everyone for advice and talk! Micheal Cole is one of the two people who made me really love ball pythons! None of the three fuss about getting bitten, they all throw themselves into helping the animals and the environment, while making it clear they love keeping the reptiles!
More of it, and less of the sensationalized lies and animal rights thinly veiled media campaign would be nice. Won't happen, but it'd be nice.
