    Re: Tub Setup Questions

If not, what size do you recommend?

Also, to heat the tub, will I need 2 UTHs? What size UTH will I need? I plan on buying the zoo-med brand UTH along with a herpstat or zoo-med repti-temp thermostat.
That 64 quart tub will be too big. Pretty much the size of the snake will determine the tub size. For a young snake, under about 8-9 months old, a 15-20quart tub will work. Once they hit about 9-12 months old you can move them into a 32 quart tub, and that will last for at least a year or more. Since you will be using a stand alone tub, I suggest setting it up just like a tank. 2 hides, water bowl, maybe a small piece of wood or something to rub on.
For the UTH, I use a 10" X 11" on my 32qt tub. It should cover at least 1/3 but not more than 1/2 of the floor space. I would suggest thinking about what size of snake you want to get, whether it be a juvenile or a yearling. Go to Wal-Mart and look at the tubs. when you find the one that you are going to need, measure the bottom of it, and that will make it easier to decide what size UTH you should get. If you get a tub with the locking handles, you won't necessarily need straps to hold it down, but you will need some binder clips to keep the tub and lid pinched together. If you get a tub with just a snap-on lid, then you will definitely need some straps, as well as, binder clips to keep the lid down.

Here is how I have the inside of my tubs set up. This is the 32 quart tub...
