Your going to run into this problem consistently untill you do somethings to slightly modify your current setup.
First off i would cover 60% of the screen with aluminum foil cut and tucked into the screen or as many people do, just a bath towel folded over. I usually mist the towel real well also since it tends to hold moisture for a while also.
A larger water bowl to help maintain humidity. I prefer in a 40 gallon tank a HUGE water bowl or plastic tub even to use as a water bowl. It helps a lot more than you think.
Mist often and thoroughly, once your soil reaches a nice rick dark brown, then you know it's good.
Also possibly to switching over to a good thermostat and 2 or 4 heat pads instead of the ceramic heat emitter would help your humidity by at least 10-15%.
Keeping the humidity up in a large glass tank is always going to be tough at first, but once you get everything right, you'll be good. Remember humid and moist is good, Damp and wet is not.
