Just on a side note.
BP's don't have to hit 500-700g in a year. They also don't have to eat every week. This is actually what is called power feeding. It is done to speed up the breeding process. Its also not necesary. Yes most do it, but is better not to. A 2 year old ball at 400-500g isnt a bad thing. (unless of course your trying to beed said such ball and then thats just not going to hapen unless its a male ). It is better to not power feed your ball and to let females get 2000g+ at 3y+ before first breeding her.
Just my own thaughts on the matter. Not that they count too much.
Yes, I agree. I've been acused of feeding too small of a prey item to my snakes, but I don't think I need to get my snakes up to breeding size in one year. But if the previious owner had him for 4-5 months, he's probably 5-6 months old. I would expect a 6 month old male ball python to be somehwere around 300+ grams. 185 is what I would expect for a 2-3 month old ball python.

Thanks!
