I have two sons, 9 and 14 years old. My wife home schools both of them. It is awesome. Everyone can sleep in, take days off and make them up whenever, work at there own pace, grow a 2 ft green mohawk (my 14 yr old has had a long mohawk since he was 5), whatever as long as the work gets done. Another benefit is they do the work until they understand it. An 85% is required on all of their work. They are still learning from the same textbooks at the same pace as public school kids, but are not left in the dust if they don't get something right away.

My kids have both been to public schools. We have always given them a choice. They both have chose to stay home. When they went to public schools, I had to deal with "professionals" telling me what drugs my kids should be on or that my kids hair is a distraction, or they have to get certain shots. The public schools don't even do a very good job of doing what they are supposed to do, which is teach, but they have all this advice on how I should do my job? I just avoid the whole thing and let the kids stay home and actually learn things.
