I really don't think any tattoo anyone gets is weird or wrong. It's their skin, and if it means something to them, then it's just fine.

I disagree with decorating yourself with symbols of hatred, or with tattoos just because you have ten bucks and a cheap parlor nearby. But if you have a tattoo you want, that means something, even if it only means it's beatuiful to you, then it's a fine thing.

If your grandparents would OBJECT, then I'd say it wouldn't be honoring them, but as long as they would be pleased, there should be no reason you can't. The only "omen" is in people's minds.

One of my tattoos honors my 'family' and thus refers to living people, the other one honors my late husband. So I have both. I'll have a tattoo done soon that is merely for the art of it, and may have another with deeper meaning done later on. It's my skin, so I feel I can put whatever I like on it. I just remember that I'll be carrying these 'art marks' for my entire life. So I never get anything that is a impulse or meaningless.
