It isn't a usual habit of them. I am no ball pythons in the wild expert but I have never heard of them actively going out and basking.

None of my snakes ever displayed a basking behavior. I assume animals that do bask, do so on a regular basis.

If that makes any sense... Because ball pythons don't normally come out to increase their body temperature, it can't really be called basking as that is a behavior.
