    Temps:
    - 95-100 hotside hut
    - 88F 'cold side' hut
    - 55% average humidity
His setup is in my bedroom I leave the recessed lights on during the day for his "day" cycle, and lights out at night with an infrared light above at night.

for the most part he stays in the cold side hut, its very rare when he moves to the hot hut. During the day he comes out and hangs on the branches under the infrared red (left on for 24hrs). In the mornings before work (6am) i catch him doing most of his action. If I am in the room for a long period (20min+), he will stretch out of his hut and lay across the branches.

Outside his encloser he usually sits in my lap or under my arm for 10-15minutes then he starts to adventure. He moves all around the bedroom. I took him outside once before it started to get cold and he seemed to enjoy it, he would stop and smell the flower garden then just keep scooting.

kjay & jjc i see your points, and admit they are valid. I haven't tried to introduce them I just thought in the long run it would be better for the snake to get used to her now, so later I will beable to have him out of his encloser more often and used to the family. Perhaps not?

Man, that is WAY too hot for the hot side. You need to have it between 88F-94F. Do you have your heat source controlled by a thermostat or rheostat (dimmer)?

95 is at the high end.

I would shoot for 92. 100 is definitely too hot.

You cool side should be in the low 80's, not the high 80's.

Are you only using lamps? I would consider switching to UTHs. Lamps suck humidity, and ball pythons don't "bask".

    Agree 100% on this post.

And Kaorte, are you SURE Ball pythons don't bask? I swore one time mine was basking under her heat lamp. This was a pretty long time ago, way before I joined the forum. I came in my room and she was on top of her hide underneath the heat lamp and she was there for a few hours too. I thought it was unusual. LOL, silly Ball pythons..

It isn't a usual habit of them. I am no ball pythons in the wild expert but I have never heard of them actively going out and basking.

None of my snakes ever displayed a basking behavior. I assume animals that do bask, do so on a regular basis.

If that makes any sense... Because ball pythons don't normally come out to increase their body temperature, it can't really be called basking as that is a behavior.

Yeah that's true. I'm not sure why she did that "basking" thing but I guess she probably was trying to get warm or something. That's the only time she's done that too, so I'm just guessing it was to warm her up because she might've been cold in her hide. She don't gotta worry about that anymore since I got a UTH and a tub xD.

I thought more people would chime in on the rat pup for a 1 y/o BP. Can anyone else confirm (One IS the loneliest number, after all) that this is too small of a meal for him? Unless this BP is unusually small, I would highly suggest in feeding something bigger.

I would have to agree with you. My one year olds are eating small rats (75g each).
