Snake oil as a shedding aid

i got zoo med shedding aid.... spray on. it worked a little bit. after i sprayed it my snakes stuck shed started comming off a little bit more. It does make them shine... Also says its fine to use on snakes and reptiles... obviously.

Hot rock packages say they're great for reptiles too...as do calci-sand and other granular substrates. I'm sorry, but I will not support anything other than good, old-fashioned water (and maybe a towel) to help with shedding problems.

(A friend and I are looking for citations/articles about oil use on reptiles. Will post as soon as I have something. Of the scientific articles I've found so far, none say to use anything but water as a shed aid.)
