Help me convince my mom to let me have another snake

The story is :
I got a ball python and my mom says it is not as bad as she thought it would be, because her co-worker's brother had a ball python and my mom's co-worker told her all the horrible stories of them(yet another irresponsible owner story) and before I got my ball python, those stories made my mom not let me have a snake which was a year ago and I just got my ball python January of this year. But what this thread is about is that my mom won't let me get another ball python!She says I have too many snakes, but all we have is one ball python which is mine, and my brother has one too, so that makes two ball pythons, but I own ONLY one, so I ONLY HAVE ONE! And she also says I have too many pets, and I only have TWO pets!I don't know why she says I have too much snakes, you guys should show her your collection of snakes!So the question is, can you guys give me anything that might help lead to me getting another ball python?

I told her I wanted ONLY ONE MORE!I told her one more and that's all(which is satisfying the reptiles are like potato chips saying) and I am willing to only have 2 snakes while living with my parents, but once I move, I am going to have a whole bunch!

Christian, while I understand your wanting another snake as a parent I understand your mother's point of view too. The fact of life, which I know is hard for a teenager to understand, is that it is your mom's home so it's ultimately her decision. Bugging her about it is probably like when my kid's bug me about something - it kind of makes me want to say no all the more because of that.

How about instead of asking for another snake at this point you show your mother how good you are doing with the one you own. Even being a member here at this website will show your mom you are really serious about learning and being a responsible snake owner. Actions always speak louder than words when it comes to us parents.

Also think about your immediate future. Until you know where and what you will be as an adult outside your parent's home maybe only having one snake to deal with might be best. If you go away to college for instance keeping one relatively small python may be workable - many of them, not so much.

Just things to think about.

I am 14...and got the money too....

I am actually wanting to build a custom cage for my current ball python and then I can give the next ball python his old cage which should last him his whole lief(29 gal.) and give my current ball python the custom enclosure.

Well Christian, it's like this, we can't help give you ways to convince your Mom to let you have another snake, you know your Mom best.

How has your track record been as far as responsibility?
Are you a good student?
How many pets are in the house now?
Does she even like snakes/reptiles?
Does your Mom even like pets of any kind?

I was fortunate enough to have a Mom that let us keep a variety of pets, as long as we took care of them. I was the same way with my children, who had the habit of bringing home every stray/injured animal they came across.

Hey man atleast you have one lol. My mom still doesnt think im getting one. My dad will let me though and im getting one in 4 days at the reptile show ( I already bought all the stuff). Ive told her everything all the facts about how good they are and easy to take care of. she just doesnt like reptiles at all. No reason. Just she doesnt like them. Shes made up every excuse you can ever think of, even when she knows nothing about snakes. Ive heard them all.
And i was sposto get it when i was in 7th grade. She LIED to me. ( said if i get good grades then i can get it, i got the good grades then she acted like she never said i could get it) Now im gonna be a senior in HS. I kept telling her i was gonna get one and she seemed ok with it then she started saying no. Last time i talked with her about it she was saying stuff like i dont have enough money to feed it, i was like you only feed it once a week.... Then shes like what ever! Like she thought that she would have to take care of it and stuff which deffinatley isnt the case.
I cant tell you how to persuade your mom though lol. They all seem hopeless. My friends mom wont let him get one because she thinks it will eat the dogs, and their birds.... even when you tell her thats never going to happen.

the best part of owning snakes is as long as they have water and a clean cage with humidity and temp up to par you dont have to feed them everyday, and thier just pet rocks but rocks that i love having

I agree with the other parents. Show your mom how responsible you can be and she might consider it. No promises though And the school thing is definitely something to think about. You don't want to leave her with your brothers snake and your snake(s), then she'll be really mad, lol.
