Help me convince my mom to let me have another snake

I agree with the other parents. Show your mom how responsible you can be and she might consider it. No promises though And the school thing is definitely something to think about. You don't want to leave her with your brothers snake and your snake(s), then she'll be really mad, lol.

true but im willing to get 3 jobs to get my own apartment so i can keep snakes and does a big shot snake breeder really need college???? just kidding with the way reptile keeping is looking that would be a bad industry to go into besides the black ball market

hehe thanks. idk i dont think she will care much. Its really not a big deal. (best part is, shes leaving for a camping trip a few days before and will come back the day i get it)

It's a little easy with my mom, but here's how I convince her:

I tell her that I will keep my room and the house clean. I keep my entire room and some rooms in the house clean to show her I mean it. Then, I take her somewhere where they have BPs for sale, and I show her some of the BPs to get her interest and to show her that I really want one. Sometime after that I eventually get the snake. So far, from doing this, I have 6 snakes.. and two other reptiles

But I do really good in school!I get like 6 As and 2 Bs almost all the time on my report card and in Texas we have a test called TAKS and their are different subjects for it, and on the math one, I was commended, which means you made one of the highest grades possible and was being recognized by the whole state.

Well Christian, it's like this, we can't help give you ways to convince your Mom to let you have another snake, you know your Mom best.

How has your track record been as far as responsibility?
Are you a good student?
How many pets are in the house now?
Does she even like snakes/reptiles?
Does your Mom even like pets of any kind?

I was fortunate enough to have a Mom that let us keep a variety of pets, as long as we took care of them. I was the same way with my children, who had the habit of bringing home every stray/injured animal they came across.

As far as responsibility: I do what I am told, and isn't that what a parent wants?

Am I a good student: I think 6 As and 2 Bs is pretty good, don't you think?

How many pets: Well in my house we have only 3 but I only own 2 and my brothers owns the other one.

Does she like snakes/reptiles: Well she does not like snakes but likes my bearded dragon, but she realized it was not as bad for me owning a snake as she thought it was be, but she is kinda on the fence about it I guess.

Does she likes pets of any kind:Yes she does my aunt is currently living with us and she has a little chihuahua and she loves it, not my snake

I am the only one taking care of my pets, the only thing that they do is drive me to the pet store to get the food, and also they are not paying for it either.

I remember being 14 and wanting a ball python more than anything. At the time the cost of the snake and the setup was too much for my single mom to afford and as I got older and had my own money, as in money that did not come out of my moms pocket at one point, my mom insisted that getting a snake was not an option. Years went by and one day about a year ago, I was in a pet store and I saw a cute little ball-python. I was 29 years old, living with my girlfriend soon to be wife and I thought "If only I could get a ball-python." Then like a ton of bricks it hit me. I am an adult, I have a job, my own place, money saved up in the bank. I have been able to buy a snake if I want for the past 10 years. If I was that 14 year old kid I would have walked out of the store with that snake. Instead I went home, joined this site, and started reading, two weeks later I was sure that I still wanted a snake and now I have a beautiful 618 gram normal unsexed ball python, in her own plastic, sliding glass door cage, with a lock, 2 reptile basic hides, with 2 larger ones sitting on top for when she gets too big, an under the tank heater on a thermostat and 2 digital thermometers. My girlfriend says when I get her ring I can get my carpet python.

Moral of the story is, you are 14. Before you know it you will be in college. What are you going to do with a snake collection when you go to college? You have some crazy times ahead of you and in the end you may thank your mom for keeping your passion under control. I recently offered to rescue a snake whose owner did not have time for it and whose mother would not care for it. The snake died before I could save it. College will go by like the blink of an eye and then hopefully you will have a good job, your own place, and if snakes are still your passion, get a lot before you have a partner in your life to tell you "No more snakes"

Nope, they want you to do more than they ask, they just don't tell you. Took me a while but I finally figured that one out at the age of 18. That little extra can sometimes go a long way...

When I wanted to bring my Rosy home, I had asked my mom a few times and finally I just told her I'm bringing it home, it's going in MY room, I'm the one caring for it and that was that. Now she loves the snake but my other ones all have to go to the Pop's place. Then again, I'm now 20 and I don't think this method would work well for a 14 year old, since I got this particular snake from my work to which I drive myself

Like all of the parents stated above show your mom you are responsible enough to care for your beardie, two ball pythons and yourself. Your mother cares so much for you that she wants to see you succeed with anything you do, but you have to show her that getting the other ball python is not a phase you are going through. She doesn't want to be stuck with an animal that isn't being cared for a year down the road.

When I was younger and I wanted pets I would always keep my room and the bathroom clean. Clean and feed the animals I already had without being asked. I kept my grades up and did my homework without being asked. In doing so, my Mom and Dad respected the fact I loved Animals. Heck I probably inherited the passion from them in the first place.

This is EASY. Tell her you want to be a Herpetologist when you grow up so you can makes LOTS of money to help her afford an early retirement. Then say "think about it mom... for now I have to go study. I need good grades to be a Herpetologist"

She will say "are you sure you only want one more snake?"
