I was going to write an article on why WW doesnt work but this article sums everything up. Minus one factor that I was going to add. (Yes a simple google search will bring this article up for you)

One additional thing I was going to add is the fact that humans hate keeping up with numbers. Eventually we grow bored and tired and fall off track.

    Here is another good article.

I respect everyones opinion, and although I agree with you about crash diets, I don't 100% agree with everything you've said.

I've done just about every diet. I have done Atkins, Ketogenics, crash diets, Weight Watchers. ALL of them work, but most of them are unhealthy and post-diet weight gain is pretty much guaranteed. You are absolutely correct about that.

Weight Watchers however is a much healthier change to lifestyle and eating habbits. In the beginning it was about restricting calories and gave no consideration to macro-neutrients. It's changed a lot over the years to incorporate healthier eating when it comes to fats, proteins, and carbohydrates. There is much more to it now than simply cutting your calories.

I want to elaborate on my goal for this "program." I said 20lbs as a guideline - that is my personal goal and over 5 months, its a completely healthy one. My over-all hope is not that people become obsessed with losing 20lbs in anyway way possible. My goal is that people, including myself, start exploring healthier lifestyles and eating habits. If your focused on crash dieting and dropping 100lbs as fast as possible than your not going to enjoy it, and you will likely regress in the future, correct. Everyone's goals are all attainable, and there is a healthy way to go about that. To think that you wont reach your goals because people don't like to keep track of numbers, is ridiculous. It's negative, unnecessary and not helpful to anyone. Some people feel negatively about weight loss and that's largely based on societal trends, fine.

I was over 300lbs. I dropped over 100lbs without any weight training and was very unhealthy. But it was 1 step in a longer term goal. I went from 300 lbs to 190 lbs up to 240lbs at 10% body fat. I am not recommend that people follow that course of logic - but I would have to say that someone who is 300+ lbs is less healthy than someone who is 160lbs that walks..

Not everyone has the knowledge to balance muscular development, cardio, nutrition, and still maintain a state of catablism. It's great that you have done all this research and if you have pointers for people I would love to hear them.

    Cheers.
