    Hey guys!

Just wanted to share something I noticed at the gym today. I went before work and I weighed myself before I started my workout. I was 264 lbs.. I know your not supposed to weigh yourself afterwards due to the fact that you sweat and lose a lot of water so the reading wont be accurate. I was curious how much of a variation there was so I weighed myself.. I was 153lbs!! I lost 11 lbs in an hour and a half LMAO. At first I thought the scale must be broken but I weighed my shirt and it was 9lbs with all the sweat! It blows my mind how much your body can fluctuate with water retention! Just thought I would share that, I thought it was pretty cool.. LOL

Also I was talking to a personal trainer about fat loss and muscle retention, and he gave me a pointer that I thought I could pass on to you guys and girls. This trainer used to be 350lbs and now the guy is ripped! He said he never ran a day in his life to lose the extra fat. All he did was walk at a fast pace (3.5-4) on the treadmill at an incline of 9. Apparently when you do cardio your only burning fat for the first 10-15 minutes, and then you start burning muscle tissue. When you walk your burning calories but your heart rate isn't high enough to push your body into a catablic state (catabolism is when your body turns in ward for an energy source.. i.e. burns fat..). So when your walking on a large incline your heart rate rises to the necessary 130bpm, but you can do it for a longer period of time without burning muscle. This way you can burn more fat, keep more muscle, work out longer, and hopefully see better/ healthier results.. This is what I have been doing so I will report in a couple of weeks to let you know how effective it is.

I know I owe you guys some pictures.. I will get them up ASAP. I'm going to make my weigh in days on fridays so I will have a new weight for you then, and a picture before that time.

    Cheers!

I have another story from the gym that was a little weird. I thought I would share too.. LOL

Okay so I'm on the treadmill, and my gym is pretty big, there is about 50 or so treadmills. Well I'm about 25 minutes into my incline exercise and the lady next to me lets one rip. It was BAD!! Obviously she is embarrassed and leaves the treadmill area but the whole area reeked! At this point I'm noticing other people looking around to try and figure out who dropped the bomb. The smell is coming from my area, and now I'm the only one in my row of treadmills. I contemplated getting off and calling it a day but than I figured that would make me look like the guilty party so I decided to keep going. This woman comes over and gets on the treadmill next to me. I look over to see if she is going to notice the smell LOL!! She turns to me and gives me the nastiest look and goes to another row.. There was nothing I could do or say that would change the fact that now everyone in the room thinks I'm disgusting LMAO!! It probably didn't help that I was looking around wildly at all the people judging me... I just couldn't win.. Eventually I burst out laughing so I'm sure people will just think I'm crazy..

    LOL!

Anyways just thought I would share my embarrassment with everyone! Hope you enjoyed it.

    Chris.

Re: Lose 20lbs and help BP.net!!

I'm in. I've actually already lost 20 lbs from the start of this year, but I'll go for another. (lost due to the flu+ mood swings) I'm 5'4 and 138 lbs as of yesterday. I don't have too much more to lose, But I'd like to get down into the 20's. I've never been skinny as an adult, so I think it'd be fun to see, even though I know I couldn't maintain it. I'd like to be at and maintain 135 tho. So that'll be my personal goal. My hip to waist ratio is still in the dangerous area, and I still have about 6 inches of extra fat around my waist.
Depression and anxiety really mess with my weight. I comfort eat, grr!

Chris, your treadmill story had me laughing so hard! If I was the lady that ripped butt, all I would have done was shrug and say "oops?" Lmao!!

Anyway, I am just over 120lbs, but I have a muffin top that needs to go, along with jiggly thighs and a small pudge of a belly. My goal is to wear a bikini comfortably on the beach for vacation this summer. So while I am not looking to lose weight, I definitely want to tone up! I will be here cheering everyone on, adding my progress and donating $20 as well

I'd like to join in as well. I've sort of started WW since the beginning of the year but I'm doing it all on my own, no meetings or online input. I love cooking but I've always been bad about frying foods and eating generally unhealthy foods so I've started cooking differently, even buying the WW cookbooks (and DL'ing free ones from amazon to my kindle app). I've found some from great tasting recipes but also some that I don't like at all (flour-less chocolate cookies yuk!). I think one of my main problems is simply not exercising. I recently got a Wii/Wii fit system and it's still sitting in the box I've still got to set up the area to lay it out (ie: the computer room) which is a mess.

I Vow to start cleaning up my work out area. I also vow to start working out once the area is set up because I need to get healthy. I'm 5'3" and weigh 219 lbs (as of yesterday) and I also have HBP, insomnia, and pms. I'll post my after pictures I plan to lose the 20lbs and more. My main goal is to lose at least 50lbs and to just be healthy.

Good Luck everyone! I wish you well on getting HEALTHY!

I think this is just what I needed! I was considering losing some weight but haven't really gotten around to cracking down on a good diet and exercise routine. I've looked into a couple of things and think I am going to go with the 17 day diet (already read the book and was wondering if anyone else has done this) and I would like to get into "professional" roller derby so I guess I'm strapping on those old skates of mine.

    Height: 5'7"
    Start weight: 175
Goal weight by end: 135 (40lbs overall by end of August)

Please tell me if I'm crazy for making a 40lb goal in that time or if it seems realistic. Thanks!
