I lost my brand new ball in my car!!!
I just got my spider ball female this morning ,on the way home i had to get her a 20 gallon tank i left her in a snake bag she was still in it when i got back in the car and checked but i did go in my house to drop the tank off, i came back to get her but the bag was empty .... I thought it was tied but she still got out so she is still in my car somewhere ... Im not moving my car for now but i just wonder if i should remove my dash board ... I just dont want to kill her ... Does anybody have a slight clue on where she could be in my car ... And because the sun is out, do u think she might boil up or what???

Re: I lost my brand new ball in my car!!!
Ok first calm down. I've done the exact same thing. My ball was underneath my dash, right behind my glove compartment. I tore apart my entire car (seats on the ground and everything). We were getting ready to take out the dash when someone seen her. I would take the dash out. It was only 60-70 when my ball escaped, and she had a little burn on her side. I'm not sure if you can roll down the window with out her escaping?

Re: I lost my brand new ball in my car!!!
In a car there are 200 million places they could be..
From under the seats to in them to in the dash.. I wish you the best of luck.
-
Re: I lost my brand new ball in my car!!!
good luck finding it. locking container?
-
Re: I lost my brand new ball in my car!!!
i hope i find her ... its hot outside .... i mean damn i just got her lol
i have a sun roof so i let that halfway opened ... i hope she didnt crawl out the side windows though ....
-
Re: I lost my brand new ball in my car!!!
Where was the bag sitting when you noticed it was missing..
The fear is that she escaped when the door was open while you were getting the tank out of the car
-
Re: I lost my brand new ball in my car!!!
that sucks man!
try using a borescope to look in the dash so then you dont have to completely tear up your dash
i hope you find her!
-
Re: I lost my brand new ball in my car!!!
man im scared to go to the store but im bout to go to the shop and see what they run me to remove it .... whats a borescope ? the bag was on the front seat floor
-
Re: I lost my brand new ball in my car!!!
Wait a second. Do you still have those two missing in your house also?

Re: I lost my brand new ball in my car!!!
Sounds like a lack of responsibility to me.
-
Re: I lost my brand new ball in my car!!!
Yea, its a total lack of responsibility. I do hope you find her, but if you don't I wont have the slightest bit of sympathy for you.
I would work at getting your car taken apart as soon as possible. If it was a hot day and you let it go till night time, she'll find a way out, and then she'll be lost forever, espcially when concrete retains heat so well.
Really, all the best, but its your own fault.
-
Re: I lost my brand new ball in my car!!!
Wow guys... way to be harsh. Don't you think he already feels bad about losing her? The one time I had a girl get out, I felt so horrible that I really didn't need anyone telling me that it was my fault...I knew that, what I needed was some encouragement.
So, to harm, I hope you find your girl. Personally I'd have that dash off in a heart beat. I don't know about your car, but with my truck (the POS that it is) I'm able to get the dash off with a screwdriver and some searching to find the right screws. Maybe that way you won't have to drive anywhere. Good luck to you!

The one I lost was behind the glove box also.

Re: I lost my brand new ball in my car!!!
What I'm not understanding is why you took delivery of your snake without even having your tank set up for it. You don't buy your snake then go get a setup for it. You get the environment perfect for it, THEN you bring your snake home.
The way I see it, there is a string of absolute No-No's that took place that all contributed to the loss of your new pet. When I transport snakes in pillowcases, I double knot the opening and then use baling wire below the knots to ensure there is absolutely no room for the snake to escape.
I sincerely hope you find your pet, but more than that, I really hope you've learned a valuable lesson about all this. On a whim, I'd listen to your local radio stations too. You never know, but if your snake escaped from your car, it's entirely possible it's made it's presence known and it might be making your local news as well. Every once in awhile we have that happen around here. It's just a thought.

Re: I lost my brand new ball in my car!!!
I do hope you find your snake. Thankfully I have never lost a snake in a car but I have had rats get loose. What I don't understand is why you didn't take your snake in first? If it was hot why leave it in the car? I am not trying to be mean but I truely don't understand. It was not that long ago some one had his snake stolen out from the front seat of his car(it was in a bag and he was taking it to the vet). He was broken hearted when they finnaly found the snake. It had been killed in a horrible way.
Good luck

Re: I lost my brand new ball in my car!!!
All in all it just sounds like the OP is very prone to losing snakes and he needs to realize that they are living creatures and need to be treated with care, otherwise things like this will continue to happen.
Hopefully you find this snake as well as the other two you have recently lost. And once found I highly suggest you rethink taking in anymore until you can keep them from escaping and understand how to KEEP these animals. :colbert:

and i dont think it was a whim buy, as there were several other posts asking about morphs and may be getting a spider... i feel sorry for you if lost it, if this is infarct at all real, and more sorry for this animal, but you do need to learn some responsibility man, this is one of the reasons hr669 gets enacted etc.. peoples "pets" getting out and causing problems, there's no update but if no answer by now how long ago this was posted, i fear for the worst :(.
sorry i know harsh but it's not like this is the first time :(.

Re: I lost my brand new ball in my car!!!
Dude i don't know about you but as much as morphs cost, and how hard it is to come up with cash for them in these tough times I'm going to make SURE my INVESTMENT is going to go strolling off speaking of which i need to go put locks on my racks:please::O:rolleye2::colbert:

Re: I lost my brand new ball in my car!!!
Years ago I had a corn escape in a car, same corn did it to me twice. Both times the same method drew him out. I let the car get really warm and he would come out of hiding. I of course didnt let it stay warm a long time I didnt want to hurt him. This method may not work for a bp though since they like it warmer than corns. If I take my snakes in the car now I double bag em. Snake is in a tied pillowcase inside either a zippered pet carrier or cooler.

Sorry, but that's a piss poor excuse. If I went to a show with the intention, or even the remotest possibility I might buy a new snake, you'd better believe I'd have it's living area set up well in advance before I went to the show. Shows are stressful enough on these animals. To not even have a habitat set up for it when you get it home is just down right irresponsible and will only induce more stress on your new pet.
I bought a Pastel from a fellow member here on the boards this week, but I am having him hold off on shipping until next week so I can make sure the snake's living quarters is perfect for him. It's called being a responsible snake owner.
Mistakes and accidents do happen, but for tbis type of accident to be repeated by the same person, it only further reinforces the proof that he should not own snakes, PERIOD. :colbert:

Re: I lost my brand new ball in my car!!!
To the OP, hope you find her. I actually lost a snake in my Jeep once too. I picked him up at the breeders house about 1.5 hours from my house. I didn't tie the snake bag good enough, and he got out. I found him on the way home coming out of my roll bar.
-
Re: I lost my brand new ball in my car!!!
I think that this was an accident and not supporting him in finding the snake isn't very helpful. He didn't burn, let scale rot get horrible, not feed him, let it stay in a filthy tank . It was kind of dumb to leave a snake alone in a car as I wouldn't keep any animals in a locked car alone. I have bought snakes/reptiles then when out right away to get proper housing. And yes 2 baby corns have ecsaped on my although it was because the snakes were hatchlings and so tiny that they fit though holes I didn't even noticewere there.
-
Re: I lost my brand new ball in my car!!!
well I remove the car battery to prevent a possible electrical burn and then i start looknig everywere to see if you can see her. I would also be nice and let the neighbors ( if possible0 know that she gor out of the bag in route home and to keep an eye out/call you..
I also consider not getting any more snakes until you either find 1. the bodies of the snakes dead, 2 the snakes alive, and 3 learn to d oa better job with the snakes in question .
I always transport the snake(s) i remove in either a douuble case ( pillow case then in the snakes bag ) or in a tub with latched lids) I don't open their transport unit until I am home.
To check if is alive during transport just feel the bag they move lol...
I would also say if you lost 2 snakes already then you should of had cages already set up so no need ot buy another one .

Re: I lost my brand new ball in my car!!!
Hi,
OK guys we really need to dial back the tone of this thread.
There are ways to express your feelings about this without being anywhere near as harsh.
Mmmmkay?

Re: I lost my brand new ball in my car!!!
Sorry Derek, but this individual has a history of losing his snakes. It wasn't 2 weeks ago the members of this forum were writing letters, making phone calls and doing everything in their power to influence the politicians on Capitol Hill with regard to Bill 669. Now, once again we have a reptile owner, who, due to his lack of preparedness and irresponsibility, has lost a THIRD snake.
Yes, mistakes do happen, but when it's the same person time after time, there comes a time when the sympathy ploy simply doesn't work anymore.
I mean, what's the point in fighting for the right to keep our pets when we have people who continue to display this type of behavior? It totally negates the message we are trying so desperately to send our elected officials, that we are responsible people capable of caring for and nurturing these awesome animals we all love so dearly.
Sorry if I offended anyone with this post, but it needs to be said. Potential reptile owners need to do their homework and research before jumping into this "hobby". There is too much at stake to continually condone this type of irresponsible behavior.

Re: I lost my brand new ball in my car!!!
here's an idea:
Hold a (quick) lottery here on BP.net. $50 per person to enter. Everyone goes out to your place this weekend and whoever finds the spider gets to keep it!
Someone gets a spider for $50, you get a bunch of money, and the snake is safely out of your car!

Plus with all that money you can fix the damage to the car that may or may not happen while finding the snake. :D

The fact that people act tough and talk smack on the internet shouldn't bother you.
You will most likely never meet these people, so you don't need to fret if they have unkind words to say to you.
You should take some of there advice. There ARE a few people on this site worth listening to. You could learn a lot from them.
