Never buy from.............

LLLReptile.com, they sent me a dead blood python yesterday morning.:mad::mad:. It made me so sad to see him. He was just a baby that died due to them being cheap and using cheap heat packs that were freezing by the time he arrived. That was supposed to be exciting, and turned out sad. That was my first blood python and it broke my heart. I had never seen a dead snake before. To wrap it all up, never buy from them unless you are picking the animal up.

I've heard some nasty things about LLL. A lot about mites.

Did you discuss the dead animal on arrival with them, and take pictures as soon as it arrived?

Whoa, that's horrible, I'm really sorry to hear that. :(

I had a really bad experience buying from them too. About 8 years ago I bought a bunch of leopard geckos from them and all of them were completely emaciated. An albino dropped his tail on the 3rd day, which I've never seen or heard of before with leopards. He died a few days later, and the rest hardly ate for me and all died within a month, even with me giving them water, and pedialite from a dropper.

I'm very sorry for your loss. I'll be sure not to purchase from them, whether it be supplies or otherwise. I can't condone that kind of behavior.

This needs to be posted on the threads about them on www.faunaclassifieds.com.

I have yet to see a good review of LLL

That's horrible! I'm so sorry for your loss. I would've been very sad also.

Yea they are shipping me another one thursday. However I was pretty angry I had to pay shipping again, but couldn't fight it because it was right there in their disclaimer.

I have just heard too many negative things re: their animals, I wouldn't chance buying from them

Yea I did that exactly and am getting another one shipped Friday.

Sorry this happened to you and to that poor snake. Sadly, we tend to read the fine print AFTER something happens so your thread is a good lesson in reading everything first and upfront before a company gets your money.

Personally I've never used LLL myself. I used to frequent a pet store that had pretty questionable herps in it (not healthy, loads of mites, etc.). I asked one day and guess who their main supplier was - LLL. Put me off ever buying from them if this is what they supplied to their corporate customers.

That is why I do not buy from flippers!

Sorry to hear that happened to you or anyone else for that matter. It's just a damn shame the lack of pride.:mad::mad:

I have been to their store several times and still the same.. not the cleanest place nor is their customer service any better.

One thing that keeps them alive I think is their prices on supplies are the lowest I have noticed.

I buy supplies from them, but never a reptile. They are Major flippers and we all know how that turns out...

Right there goes to show you the lack of pride. For you to have to pay shipping again is rediculous. Maybe they should spend more money on welfare of their animals and bussines practices instead of the huge amount of advertising they do. Just my 2

Why are they shipping it Friday? Can they guarantee it will arrive on Saturday??

I never, ever ship animals later in the week, because you never know when there will be a storm or a mechanical problem, which causes a delay. Ship Thursday for Friday delivery, if there's a delay, it goes to Saturday and likely will sit in the hub over the weekend.

ALWAYS get animals shipped on Mondays, Tuesdays or Wednesdays at the latest. Will ensure you get your animal.

I don't know why you just didn't buy from Kara @ NERD to begin with.

If it ain't in front of me flickin' it's tongue...I don't buy it.

I think they should have paid for the shipping since you did not kill the snake :mad:.It better be one healthy snake or else i would DEMAND a full refund ;)

I've read alot of bad reviews on LLL also. A lot of their animals seem to be in bad shape shape health wise. Also another thing i've noticed was their prices are quite a bit higher then everybody elses, especially on some of the common stuff. When they goto the local reptile shows, if you ask around the other vendors they will tell you not to buy from LLL. That's why I try to talk to the person alot on the phone if i'm going to be ordering over the net because I figure if they can deal with me talking to them a few times, then they have good customer service.

I've only ordered 2 snakes from over the internet, 1 from Matt Crews(victoryreptiles), and I talked to him a few times on the telephone before ordering like a week or so later. I paid him on like a Thursday and I asked him to wait to ship it Tuesday, as he did. It arrived Wednesday morning in great health. This was a Yellow Anaconda btw.

The other snake I ordered over the internet was from Dan Scolaro(dts herps), before I ordered I read some reviews, which he had I want to say 2 bad reviews, but I look at how he handled them, and I was mildly comfortable, then I talked to him for 2 days on the phone off/on asking general questions. Then I felt comfortable enough to order, so I ordered Monday, he shipped Tuesday and it arrived Yesterday abotu 9:10 a.m. That was my White Lip Python btw.

Just to protect yourself in case there is any issue with this replacement snake (which I strongly feel you should NOT have had to pay shipping for) keep a file of all correspondence with these folks, do everything in writing not by phone (or have all phone conversations confirmed by written email) and take a LOT of pictures. Things like the box unopened, closeup of all shipping labels, box first opened up with snake still in shipping bag, etc. I've seen a lot of people that couldn't get their money back because they didn't think ahead to have the evidence that the snake arrived DOA or in very poor condition/very poorly packed.

Yes, or to top off what he said, try to get a video of you opening the box and taking the sanke out of the bag, but before you do that make sure you catch all labels so there is no dispute that it came from them.

So did the replacement snake make it?

But heres an example...A blood shipped from LLL could run you maybe 150 bucks?

A quality shipped from Kara or WHOMEVER that is reputable is going to cost you..250-500 shipped?

For alot of people it just comes down to price...:( and thats sad

SAVE YOURSELF THE TROUBLE AND SPEND THE EXTRA CASH ON A QUALITY ANIMAL

Stores like LLL look at animals like inventory, they get a whole bunch in and turn them over for profit. That is fine if you are selling books, supplies or non-living merchandise. Many of these animals have been shipped to them, never acclimated or quarantined(thus the many stories of mites). Who knows if they have been feeding or when the last time they have been fed, temps, illness? Since they sell them so cheap they cant afford to do all these things or they could never turn a profit.

It only takes one sick animal or a few mites carrying some bad disease and your whole collection could be wiped out causing tremendous grief and a whole lotta vet bills just to save a few bucks. Not worth it.

We have all started somewhere and made rookie mistakes. Next time go to a breeder for a healthy well mantained animal and store for supplies. I would have asked for my $ back and called a breeder. We learn more from bad experiences than good ones. Think of yourself as wiser for it.

Yes next time your at an expo take a look at their animals. I guarantee that 90% have mites. I always make a point to look at their animals but try not to touch anything on their tables for fear of spreading the mites. I have had two animals die that I purchased from them, a RTB and a little crestie. Only one that is still kickin and thriving is my blood although he had a minor case of mites as well. But a quick spray of the new enclosure with some PAM before he went in and it was taken care of in a week. ALthough they did send me the PAM for free when I complained.
