UPDATE - LOOK re: I'm pissed...in need of some luck.
Well after reading all of MeMes threads about her albinos, i wanted to take a look at my 100%het pair.:D
well i looked at my male and he's all curled up in his hide lookin good.

so i went to look and my female cuz she just shed a few days ago and i wanted another look. well i moved the hide and shes not there. no biggie cuz she always gets under the paper so im moving the paper and taking it out and nothing.... she's GONE..:O. my 100%het female is gone... :O:(:O

i tore my sons room apart and all the rooms upstairs and nothing.. im totally sick to my stomach, i can't find her anywhere. i cant even see how she got out of the rack, theres now way that i see..
i see my hopes of hatching out a albino in the future fading away fast.....
im gonna keep searching of course but every hour thats passes by i get even more pissed and sick..
so please send some luck my way please...

well first off take a few deep breaths.

then start looking for places that are warm and dark. keep all your windows and doors closed. maybe take a mouse and put it somewhere where she can get it . many people have lost snakes and barring a total house escape, most of them get found. (even a guy whos snake got out the window found his not to long ago. i cant find the thread) dont worry and you'll find her.

    good luck.

One of mine got out last year and I found it in the back of my oven. if you have a small heater, make small area of a room alot warmer than all other places and put a shoe box or something to hide in there too.

pshhht...I had an escapee the other day. It was Lucielle!

I guess I didn't lock the tub right and she slid her fat a outta there!

I was trippin balls...and this was before I found out she was het albino. I looked all over the basement..and Jeff kept saying look in the laundry..look under the beds.. I finally calmed down and started to think...

    think like a snake. ;)

I needed to figure out first, how she got out..like direction wise. I started thinking..she must slid down the mid section of my rack...but she wasn't in that...so I had Jeff un-nail and lift the entire bottom of my rack, it is hollow under and just big enough for a fat a to get under...sure enough...there she was.

    So just think...think like a snake. ;)

Something warm..dark..and quiet. I am sure she isn't far!

I can only imagine how you must feel. In most cases the snake doesn't really have a way to leave the house and must be there somewhere.

Joe you must be going nuts! When did you last see her?

Make sure there's a blanket or something stuffed under the door just in case she can squish out of the room that way. Start a search in one corner and fan outwards checking everything especially deep inside any closets, under dressers, between mattresses, etc. If you figure there's no way a snake could get in there....check that place first!

If it gives you hope, we had one of our female snakes disappear on us. Out of a locked tub, out of a secure snake room. One little clip is all it took that wasn't quite clipped on right and she was gone. How she got out of that room I'm not sure. Either she got under the door or snuck out when the room was open during cleaning/feeding.

We found her, Joe, or rather she found us. On another floor of the house in a room (our master bedroom) where the door is shut 95% of the time. One day, out of the blue, there she was. Knocked over a stack of paperbacks and was parked on top like she was wondering when we'd finally get around to finding her. Not a mark on her, not much weight loss, not even acting stressed at all.....basically just a bit thirsty. She'd been missing 4 months.

Don't give up hope and keep looking. Also if you don't find her right away watch for evidence like urates, sheds, things moved out of place, that might indicate where she's at.

Man; that bites the big one :( I hate escapees.. I have not had one in awhile (well, my BCI escaped a few months ago and woke me and my honey up by knocking my prized porcelain horse off of a shelf and breaking it.. ::blushes::
But yes, I would think like your snake. Look under and inside the parts of endtables, coffeetables, bookcases, in drawers.. under sofas or chairs and allll inside them (you don't want to look not-deep enough and miss your snake being coiled up in there..)
I have been there and did lose one snake's life when she got into the basement and died, years ago. It is tough and yes it happens from time to time. I hope that you find your escapee..!
I would also keep outside doors and windows closed, and tell people that you live with to make sure they stay closed. Any doors with openings at the bottom (like my stupid front door) should be closed as well. And maybe block off any open heating vents/grates with large holes if any.. maybe plug up the drains in your bathroom (but make sure that the faucets are off!)

I hope you don't seriously think she got outside. If she did, you live in Ohio with freezing winters, being upset over not being able to breed albino babies would be the least of my concerns.

Don't know if it's true but i think i read somewhere that they usually do not go more than 10-20 feet away from their enclosure if they get out.

Could be worse though, it could be someone else's snake that escaped. I was looking after a baby corn and he did a runner from a tub when i was cleaning the main tub. Pencil thin snake that could probably do 100m in about 9.65 sec! heading under carpet, possibly through floorboards under the house/next doors house! ...arhh panic!!! luckily i spotted he had gone early on and grabbed him just before he got too far.

    Hope you find her!!

may be sit a tub on a heat mat with used rodent bedding in and get a smell going, and hide a F/T in there and set up a night watch and hope she goes in for a look, just an idea, probably i bad one

    regards Scott

Great to hear that a BP was found/turned up after missing for 4 months.

You know when your BP has been away for too long when it turns up and has a full face beard and a football with a face drawn on it, like Tom Hanks!!!:salute:

Seriously though it's reassuring that they can return after a long period like that

Check under the washer, dryer, fridge and oven, don't use the washer dryer or oven. I have some friends that found an escapee under the dryer.

Re: I'm pissed...in need of some luck.
    Update!!!!!
well today started like any other since my het female got loose. I got home from work early do to rain and got the kids from school and my son wanted a freind to come over so i told them fine but they had to play in the basement, they jumped at the offer and like 30 seconds later his friend(whos 8) comes fling out the front door with no shoes or coat on, he runs right by me and before i can asked whats wrong, my 5 years old daughter comes running out yelling " SNAKE, SNAKE, THERES A SNAKE IN THE BASEMENT". So i run down there and there she is in the hall way against the wall, so i picked her up and cleaned her up and put her in her tub, she was cold and had cob webs on her. She actually looks good not thin at all. So after she warms up im going to offer her a meal. Im sooooo glad i found her and my dream of eventually an albino is still alive:D:D:D:D

Bingo to the above post. At 5am one morning I'm sitting on the edge of our bed and I reach down to put my socks on and I notice the Mini-Mag flashlight we keep next to our BP Humphrey's cage is on the floor. Then I look up further and his front opening door is, well, open.

I get wifey awake and we comence to CAREFULLY move things off the bedroom walls, check the walk-in closet, etc. No luck. On the way home from work (knowing snakes fear of heights) I had an idea. Low and behold when I got home I was right. He had crawled out during the night of his enclosure knocking the flashlight to the carpet and being his tank is about 4 feet up, decided to simply cruise about 1 foot from where he left his enclosure and curled up UNDER his tank next the UTH.

Good luck! Of course, the bigger the snake the easier it to find 'em. Humphrey at the time was only about 13 inches long.

Okay, glad you found her! Of course if she got out once, I'd look for her to do it a second time. Our BP got out because Debbra forgot to latch the doors shut on his tank.

I wish she stayed by her rack, mine like to travel i guess. i think this will be the last escapee out of the tubs that i will have. im putting a door over the front of the rack maded out of 1 bys and screen with a lock on it to keep the kids and thier friends out.

I think you are confused as to who was pounding down margaritas. :P

I'd also like to point out that there is an hour time difference between us, so 7:30 in the morning for you is too freaking early here. :giggle:

Do will your girl be ready this year then?
